The Seahawks And Lions Have A Chance To Achieve Something On Sunday That Has Never Been Done Before In NFL History

Welcome to Week 2 of Nerd Nuggets, presenting one stat or storyline from each and every NFL game that you probably didn't know until now. Let's dive into Sunday's slate and the MNF Doubleheader...

Packers @ Falcons

Green Bay head coach Matt LaFleur returns to Atlanta, where he served as quarterbacks coach in 2015-16. Also, LaFleur and Falcons head coach Arthur Smith coached together in Tennessee in 2018. When LaFleur left the Titans to take the Packers HC job, Arthur Smith took over for him as Titans OC.

Raiders @ Bills

When the Raiders and Bills get together, a lot of points are typically scored. In their last five meetings, the two teams have averaged a total of 57.2 points per game.

Ravens @ Bengals

Despite a slim, 28-27 edge for Baltimore in the overall series, the home team has a significant historical advantage when these two teams meet, winning 36 of the 55 games.

Seahawks @ Lions

No two teams in NFL history have ever combined for at least 80 points in 3 consecutive meetings. The Lions and Seahawks have a chance to do that this Sunday. Last year Seattle beat Detroit, 48-45, and in 2021, they beat the Lions, 51-29.

Chargers @ Titans

Los Angeles has absolutely dominated this series as of late, winning 11 of the past 13 games. Four of the last five matchups in the series have been decided by one score.

Bears @ Buccaneers

Buccaneers WR Mike Evans Needs 1 receiving touchdown to tie Antonio Brown, Calvin Johnson and Brandon Marshall (83) for the 25th-most touchdown receptions in NFL history. He’s already on the verge of passing some big time names, and is showing no signs of slowing down.

Chiefs @ Jaguars

Jaguars Head Coach Doug Pederson returns to face Kansas City, where he served as the Chiefs Offensive Coordinator from 2013-15. Pederson also served as a member of Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid’s staff in Philadelphia from 2009-12.

Colts @ Texans

When Anthony Richardson and the Colts travel to face C.J. Stroud and the Texans, it will mark the second game in NFL history featuring two starting quarterbacks both under the age of 22. Each quarterback is currently 21 years old. The only other such matchup was when Tampa Bay’s Jameis Winston met Tennessee’s Marcus Mariota in Week 1 of the 2015 season.

49ers @ Rams

The 49ers have tallied 11-consecutive regular season wins dating back to Week 8 of last season (started at LAR, 10/30/22), where they head this week, marking the team’s longest regular season winning streak since 1997.

Giants @ Cardinals

TE Zach Ertz has at least one TD reception in five straight games vs. New York. Ertz has more TD receptions vs. the Giants (7) than against any other team in his career.

Jets @ Cowboys

Dallas leads the NFL in both takeaways (70) and interceptions (44) since Dan Quinn arrived as defensive coordinator in 2021.

Commanders @ Broncos

Washington HC Ron Rivera enters Week 2 needing one victory to reach 100 regular season wins in his coaching career. He would become the 44th HC in NFL history and eighth active HC to reach 100 regular season wins.

Dolphins @ Patriots

New England has worn uniforms featuring the old “Pat Patriot” logo at home eight times since switching to the current logo in 1993. The Patriots are 7-1 when wearing throwback uniforms at home, but lost their most recent game in them (against the Bills last year).

Saints @ Panthers

The Saints have allowed 20 or fewer points in 9 straight games, which is tied for their longest streak in franchise history

Browns @ Steelers

The Steelers’ 52 victories on Monday Night Football are tied for the most in the NFL. Pittsburgh is an impressive 29-5 at home under the lights on Mondays as well.
