Akron Has Skyrocketed Into The Sideline Celebration Rankings With Their New Turnover Tire

So obviously ever since Miami debuted the Turnover Chain back in 2017, it's become the Golden Age of Sideline Celebrations. Everyone wants to encourage turnovers and try to generate excitement for the defense, but more importantly programs want to go viral and help their recruiting. We've seen it all: Turnover Thrones, Turnover Canes, Turnover Robes, Turnover Belts, etc etc etc. Everyone is trying to keep up with the Jones these days. And in all honesty, it's become a little stale to me. Until yesterday, when the University of Akron brought sideline toys all the way back:

Akron brought out a fucking TURNOVER TIRE????

Listen, if you're not privy to the history of the great city of Akron, Ohio, then this probably makes little sense to you. Akron is not just the birthplace of both Lebron James AND Steph Curry….it's also the birthplace of the Goodyear Tire Company. Folks, it's nickname is the Rubber Capital of the World. The Zips used to play in the Rubber Bowl. So yeah, I absolutely love the tip of the cap the industry that put the city on the map. And I also love that it's not just limited to one tire. A few more turnovers for #11 and buddy's gonna be the Michelin Man.

And it worked, too. The previously winless Zips knocked the Morgan State Bears off the unbeaten list, and I'm assuming the boys probably needed a few more rubbers than just these tires around campus last night.
