Eddie Vedder Brings Chris Chelios On Stage To Tell Him That The Blackhawks Are Retiring His Number In A Perfect Moment

This was absolutely PERFECT. I would guess that if Chris Chelios could have anyone in the world give him the news that he was going to be remembered as a Blackhawks legend forever it would be Eddie Vedder. Great move by the Blackhawks and a very deserved honor for Chris Chelios. He defined the Blackhawks for me as a kid. If you grew up in the 90s it was all about Chelios, Roenick, and Belfour. Only one guy was from here. One guy was the captain. One guy did everything he could for the entire decade. Then he came back and it was like he never left. He might've become friends with Kid Rock, but Eddie Vedder is his best man, if you catch my drift.

I am sneaky obsessed with Chelios. He's a mystery to me. I feel like I see him everywhere around town. He's always tanned. Always polite. Never with the same person twice. Seems like he doesn't have a care in the world. Nothing to do, but always has somewhere to be. Chelios just rides the wave where it takes him.

I'm sure he has incredible stories. You hear things about Chelios second hand and it adds to his myth. I would LOVE to have some banditos on the rocks and just listen to stories from the 90s/2000s unfiltered. Tales of the old Chicago Stadium, The Lodge, Malibu, the road, and the boys.

PS: I am sure that people will naturally ask what this means for Seabrook and his #7 in the rafters. I think it has zero impact. The Blackhawks already have two #3s hanging up there. They can have two #7s and they should. I love Seabrook. He meant everything to the Blackhawks in their most important and most successful era. When his contract with Tampa Bay is officially up after this year I hope he comes back to Chicago in some way. I want to see his banner raised and I want to see him around Southport.
