We Went Cold Once Again With Our Picks Yesterday

Yankees -1.5 (+125) against the Nationals

I am about to say something that is going to bother people. The New York Yankees aren't THAT bad. Don't get me wrong, they are a bad team. Every flaw of the Brian Cashman era has been exposed this season. Heads need to roll. It's a bad ball club. With that said they are good enough to bet on at plus money on the run line at home. Patrick Corbin has been durable over the last few years. That is the only compliment that I can give him. Besides that, he's been one of the worst pitchers in baseball. He's had a fine career, but the evidence of his decline is very well documented. This Yankees team isn't one that I expect to get hot in these last 40 games, but they are good enough to win today.

Astros -1.5 (+160) against the Red Sox

The Red Sox do scare me. They are a team that's good enough to make a deep run in October, but they're very much the kind of team capable of knocking someone off of a playoff spot. I have my trepidations about betting against them, but I'm starting to really believe in J.P. France for the Houston Astros. His peripheral numbers are great, but the Astros rotation has not been nearly as dominant as people would expect over the last month or so, but he's emerged as a real piece for them. Houston was made for games like this. They are still in a very tight, divisional race, and they're coming off of a tough extra innings lost last night. I think they bounce back with France on the mound.

D.J. LeMahieu to homer (+700) against the Nationals

I'm going to be doing cartwheels if this thing hits. LeMahieu is a shell of himself at this point. Injuries are a huge reason for that. You know who else is a shell of himself? Patrick Corbin. Corbin is a huge reason why I'm betting the Yankees on the run line, and he's a huge reason why I'm betting on DJ LeMahieu to go deep today. Fifty-eight plate appearances is a large sample size, and in that time, DJ LeMahieu has collected 21 hits, including six home runs. The value here is great because LeMahieu's power numbers have been down across the board, but I think lightning is going to strike today.
