After Being Called Out For Making Shit Up, Stephen A Smith Doubled Down And Read A Supposed Text From Michael Jordan About The Curry/Magic Debate Live On Air

It was just yesterday that Lonzo Ball took to Twitter (X???) to be the latest professional athlete to call Stephen A on his bullshit, all surrounding some accusations that Ball's knees were so fucked he had trouble sitting down

That's tough.

This certainly isn't the first time we've seen NBA players publicly go at Stephen A for apparently making shit up. How could we forget the whole KD saga from a few years ago

You have to remember, these shows are about entertainment above all else. Who cares if they're telling the truth as long as it gets the people going, clips are shared etc. The game is the game.

This is all a long way of saying take these "reports" with a gigantic grain of salt.

Which brings us to today. The very next day after Lonzo basically called Stephen A out for not having sources and just blatantly making things up, he went on TV today and read what for my money is one of the most outrageous text messages I think I've ever heard

OK, let's ignore that he started that clip saying he got the text at 5:45am and then ended it saying 5:54am. That very well could have just been a classic mix-up. The numbers are all there, just jumbled. What I think is more outrageous is how long of a text that had to be. Are we to believe Michael Jordan is sitting on his phone typing a text to Stephen A about the Steph/Magic debate that is longer than any blog I've ever written? MJ simply knows off the top of his head that Steph is a career 43% (42.8% to be exact) three point shooter? I find that a little hard to believe and I don't think MJ is camping out on Basketball Reference in his downtime. That part about inventing triple doubles? If MJ is such a student of the game that he knows Steph's 3P%, wouldn't he probably know who Oscar Roberston is? Really makes you think….

Of course, the internet is calling Stephen A a liar and that this is all made up. Given his history, I could see that being the case. But this is so brazen, that I'm leaning towards this being a real text from MJ's phone. I think it's more believable MJ was with someone and he said all those things out loud, and then someone else put it into an actual text. I feel like you have to be a madman to go on live TV and claim you're reading a text from MICHAEL JORDAN and in reality, it's all bullshit.

I will say though, if MJ somehow comes out and refutes that text, the internet is going to explode. Especially coming off the heels of what happened with Lonzo.

In the end though, whether that was MJ or not the overall point is still true. Steph is one of the greatest players ever and without a doubt the best shooter ever, but Magic is still the point guard king.
