Deshaun Watson Says That He And Patrick Mahomes (Forgot To Mention Mitch Trubisky) Make The 2017 QB Draft Class One Of The Best Of All Time

Listen, I don't need my quarterback to be an NFL historian. I need my quarterback to throw with distance and accuracy, elude pass rushers, and be able to pick up first downs with his legs. My quarterback can do all of those things, but he's just very wrong here. But I guess my biggest question in fact checking Mr. Watson is what does the term "one of" mean to him. Because when you refer to being "one of" the best NFL QB classes, it doesn't have to be #1 (it's not), but it should be Top 3, right?

#1 is clearly 1983, which had John Elway, Dan Marino, and Jim Kelly all selected. That's a mere 23 Pro Bowls combined.

#2 has to be 2004, which saw Big Ben, Eli Manning, and Phillip Rivers win 4 Super Bowls and go to 18 Pro Bowls.

From there, it's anyone's game. Lots of historical players that I'm sure the old heads will take on their side, but there's even more recent classes much better than 2017. 2012 is way ahead of 2017, with Russ Wilson, Andrew Luck, RG3, Ryan Tannehill, Nick Foles, and Kirk Cousins. And even 2020 has Burrow, Tua, Herbert, and Hurts. Damn that will be pretty good one day, it's just they don't have the top dog in Pat Mahomes. But I think it's really funny that Deshaun is clearly relying on Mahomes maybe going down as the greatest of all-time to catapult an overall weak class outside of him (sans Mitch Tribusky) into the discussion. That's like Chad Pennington saying he and Tom Brady make up one of the best classes of all time!

Although, it must be noted that former Chief and current Browns safety, Juan Thornhill, says that Deshaun and Pat are pretty damn similar.

Love to hear that, and excited to see where Deshaun takes us.

I guess if Deshaun goes on to win a few Super Bowls, along with some more Pro Bowls, to go with Mahomes who already has plenty of both, then yes, 2017 will be looked back on as a great class.
