We're Looking To Continue A Good Week With Today's Picks

RECORD

43-68-2 (-3.6 units)

We had a good day yesterday. Despite having a good day for the Padres, Juan Soto failed to go deep, but that was our only loss. For the other two bets, we didn’t have to sweat out at all. The Astros did what the Astros do against the Angels and thoroughly dominated them, with Jon Singleton becoming one of the feel-good stories of baseball last night. With each passing day, the Mariners look more and more like the team that made it to the postseason a year ago. They straight-up dominated the Baltimore Orioles. The curse of Kevin Brown is genuine. I know he’s back, but can Baltimore undo the damage? Time will tell. So we’re feeling pretty good. We’ve had a plus positive week so far. Let’s take a look at today’s picks.

Marlins -1.5 (+130) against the Yankees

The Miami Marlins have been in freefall in the second half of the season. I've gotten burned in the second half betting on them before, but I have some pretty good reasoning behind this one. Nestor Cortés was originally scheduled to pitch for the Yankees today. He's been put back on the 15-day IL. Who knows when we'll see him again? As of now, the Yankees do not have a starter listed. They may very well be going with a bullpen day. If that's the case, I favor the Marlins. He didn't have a great outing last time, but Sandy Alcantara is starting to find himself again. I hope he does. When he's on, he's one of the best pitchers in baseball. This is excellent value for a home favorite. I'd appreciate it if the fish came alive today.

Astros -1.5 (+105) against the Angels

The Houston Astros have been very good to me. Betting against the Los Angeles Angels has also been good for me. This pick is very chalky, but to get the Astros at plus money here on the run line, I feel like it's good value, even if it is just +105. J.P. France has been remarkably consistent for the Astros this season. They've needed him on the mound with the number of pitching injuries they've had. He won't be called upon as heavily come October as Valdez or Verlander will be, but for a 27-year-old rookie, putting up a sub-three ERA in his first full season is very impressive. Tyler Anderson is going for the Angels. He's been a mess this season and hasn't been able to re-capture the magic that made him an All-Star a year ago. I just think the Angels are completely demoralized right now, and they're playing in a ballpark where they usually get their teeth kicked in. That'll continue today.

Kyle Tucker to homer (+340) against the Angels

I usually don't double up and make two bets in the same game, but this opportunity was too good to pass up. I've written before about how much I love Kyle Tucker. He's slowly emerging from the "underrated" category and becoming one of the true baseball superstars. Tyler Anderson is a left-handed starter for the Angels. Kyle Tucker this season is putting up insane numbers against left-handed pitching. He's got a .345 batting average and OPS over 1.000 again southpaws in 2023. He's had seven at-bats in his career against Tyler Anderson. While he's yet to go deep, he's recorded five hits. There are multiple Astros that have really good numbers against Anderson, but I trust Tucker the most here. He's been seeing the ball so well this year, and the numbers against lefties are very intriguing.
