'Meg 2: The Trench' Is A Megalodon-Sized Pile Of Shit That Somehow Made $150 Million This Past Weekend

On the last episode of LCB we interviewed Michael Cera, reviewed the very solid TMNT: Mutant Mayhem but had the misfortune of reviewing 'MEG 2: The Trench'.

The Meg is one of those movies that lets you know exactly what you're getting into ahead of time. Big shark killing the shit out of people, Jason Statham saves the day. That is the very base formula that made the first movie entertaining enough. In 'Meg 2: The Trench', that formula is flushed down the toilet. Instead, we get almost no Meg action whatsoever until the third act. Thats 2/3rds of the movie following around fucking HUMANS fighting each-other in a dysfunctional rip off of 'The Abyss'. Guess what? That isn't what we are buying a ticket to a Meg movie for! Fuck the humans! We need minimal human dialogue, maximum Meg destruction. It should be such a layup and instead we have a stupid action movie that just happens to have some Megs in it. BOOOOOO!!!!!

However, that all didn't stop this from cleaning up both domestically with a $30+ Million dollar haul and internationally, where the Chinese-produced movie made $55+ Million in China. Creature features make bank, what can I say.
