We Need More Videos From Draft Rooms Like This One Of The Lions Negotiating A Trade And Sweating Out Picks To Still Land Jahmyr Gibbs

I have no idea why this video just got released, but we need more of these. I'm a self-proclaimed nerd, well aware of it all. I love the draft, I love trades, I love watching the negotiation process. I want to see all of this from NFL draft rooms. Lions clearly and desperately wanted Jahmyr Gibbs. At the same time they had to sweat out picks after trading back from 6 to 12.

My only wish in terms of this video? I want to see the formula the guy punched in to announce it was a fair trade. I want to see how these guys evaluate picks and the whole negotiation process. I do love that it's quick talking, hang ups and call right back. I think there was a total of like 18 words said to get the deal done. That's my kind of pace.

Everything about drafting is fairly stupid. You're guessing. You can have a pick that everyone agrees is the right one and it just not work out. The player ends up being a bust or the scheme doesn't fit him. Whatever. But the process? The process is what I'm infatuated with. Hell, we spend all this time looking at mock drafts, grading drafts. No one has any idea. Sure, there's some intel out there in terms of who teams are targeting and that matters. But grades? Come on. Pointless.

Side note, is there anything more on brand than Campbell's response of trust your gut? No doubt in my mind that guy lives trusting his gut on every decision. Numbers? Who needs them, he's got his gut. I don't like him wearing a suit, it doesn't look right. But the trust your gut let me know that Campbell is the same guy no matter what.
