Worth It: David Beckham Claims He Goes To Work At 7:30 Every Day Just To Remind Himself It's Real That Messi Is Playing For Inter Miami

So we got this in depth article on Beckham, Inter Miami, Messi and everything else. Worth the read. But here's my biggest takeaway. There's no shot David Beckham goes to work at 7:30 every morning like he claims:

[Source] - “I have come in every single morning at 7.30am to just see him — to just know it’s real.”

This isn't some dork saying this either. This is David Beckham. The guy can do whatever he wants, is one of the most famous people in the world and I don't think that's an exaggeration. But this is the Messi effect. David Beckham basically turned into a fangirl and just wants to see his new best friend. I don't blame him. If I knew I was going to get richer because Messi is on my team, I'd be happy too.

But come on, 7:30? We're not talking waking up at that time. We're talking about getting into the office at that time. No shot. I don't know Beckham's schedule, but who is getting to work at 7:30? No one is doing that. I don't even think Messi is getting there at 7:30. But at the same time I can see Beckham sitting in his office, drinking his coffee just staring out his window until Messi arrives and then he sprints to him. They already have a goal celebration together:

The other interesting part in this whole signing and saga? The secret meeting in 2019:

Fast forward to September 2019 (months before Inter Miami played their first MLS match) and an initial meeting that set the wheels in motion. “We got on a plane and flew to Barcelona from London secretly,” explains Beckham of a covert trip to the city where Messi was then playing his football. “We snuck into a hotel, met Jorge Messi (Lionel’s father and also his agent) and started the conversation. It purely went, ‘We would love your son to play for our team one day. We know he can’t come yet, but one day we would love to have Leo in Miami’.

That was before Messi even played for PSG. Before Inter Miami even played a game. I love that there's a secret meeting and all this stuff to get him over here. I'd love for the owners of my teams to have secret meetings 3 years in advance of signing a player. That's called being smart. That's called getting ahead of everyone else so you can start negotiating and win that battle.

What a duo. Also how I know Messi is the greatest player of this era. He's got David Beckham acting like a little kid and nearly bringing him to tears after goals. Only Messi can do that.
