Pretty Sure Wrexham's Manager Is Threatening To Fight To Man U's Goalie After He Punctured Paul Mullin's Lung Last Night

Play at the 10 second mark here:

Let me say something right off the bat here. Phil Parkinson is my kind of coach. Your star gets hurt in a preseason match with a brutal hit? You look to fight that player. Say what you want about soccer fights, this kind of guy is looking to scrap. That's why I'd want to play for him. I mean it's a punctured lung, Mullin got sent to the hospital and will likely miss the start of Wrexham's season, which is in roughly 2 weeks.

I'm not even that upset at the Man U goalie here. Also, I say Man U loosely, it wasn't their real team, but you get it. He's playing a game. Sure, it's a little too much for preseason and maybe take it easy, but he's fighting to make money. I get it. You just gotta take it down a notch and maybe not lay out other players in a preseason match that's in the USA to help promote Welcome to Wrexham Season 2.

This is a football guy dressed as a football guy. He sees his guy go down, he wants some retribution. That's why you need a goon on your soccer team a la Temple basketball in the 90s. Get someone out there to throw a couple bodies around, take a yellow card and control the midfield area. This feels especially true in the league Wrexham is in. We're talking 4th tier soccer, might as well use one roster spot for a goon.

Again, Parkinson can coach my team any day of the week. You stand up for your guy no matter what. Who cares if the goalie apologized? Who cares if it wasn't malicious and just a freak injury? Nope. This is all about protecting your star. Every league does it, good to know Welsh soccer teams are the same.
