Britney Spears Announced Her Memoir, "The Woman In Me" Will Be Out In October

People - Britney Spears is ready to tell her story at last. The pop icon will release her much-anticipated memoir, The Woman in Me, on Oct. 24, PEOPLE can exclusively reveal.

After a bidding war among multiple publishing houses, Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, acquired the memoir. (To pre-order, click here.)

“Britney’s compelling testimony in open court shook the world, changed laws, and showed her inspiring strength and bravery,” Jennifer Bergstrom, Gallery Books Senior Vice President and Publisher, tells PEOPLE. “I have no doubt her memoir will have a similar impact — and will be the publishing event of the year. We couldn’t be more proud to help her share her story at last.”

FINALLY. I, of course was going hard for Britney during the #FreeBritney movement, but I won't lie, even I think that entire ordeal had moments where it was doing more harm than good. I think it's pretty clear that Britney Spears has been through things that we, as the public, can't even imagine. Weird, incoherent instagram captions can't capture her true feelings in the way a book can, so I'm extremely excited to check this out. I'm hoping that this will be one more piece to the puzzle that Britney is trying to put back together.

I'm also hoping it'll start to repair her reputation as an "adult," which I know sounds stupid, but I really do feel like people don't take her seriously right now. Take this whole drama with that NBA player Victor Wembanyama's security guard stiff arming Britney out of the way, and everyone acting like her reaction to it wasn't normal. She felt like she got hit in the face when she was doing something innocent in her eyes. Cut her some slack. We can't let this set back our opinions on her growth, especially when we are lucky enough to have her share it all with us. Remember - she doesn't have to tell us anything! She's Britney Fucking Spears!
