Wake Up With George W. Bush Throwing A Perfect Strike At Yankee Stadium After 9/11

"I didn't want the American People to think their President isn't capable of finding the plate"

Listen you can say a lot about the Bush presidency. Most notably is the quality of this first pitch. To live through it in real time. To reflect on it later. To know that there's no amalgamation of baseball, America and democracy all rolled into one moment better than the above. George Bush under as much pressure as anyone throwing any pitch in history. And he dots 86 with a little sink and arm side run wearing slacks and a quarter zip.

We don't do politics around here but no fuckin way Joe Biden could find the mound much less the plate. He'd be walking around short center talking to himself, rubbing ointment into the backs of his hands.

Anyways.

It's a great moment to reflect on America and baseball. Which reminds me.

HUGE slate of 4th of July Baseball today. Reds and Nationals tee off in less than two hours. 4 more noon games. 4 afternoon games. Then a really balanced mix of early evening into late evening. We like that a lot.

Meantime, please identify a better recreational moment by a president since Teddy Roosevelt was slaying beasts with his bare hands. I think this one's impossible to beat.
