'I Think Halle Berry Is Pretty In Church Or The Grocery Store' - Pistons GM Troy Weaver, With The Single Best Reasoning For Drafting Ausar Thompson

What a quote. I think (emphasis on think here) I understand what he's getting at. The whole debate of how do you scout someone from Overtime Elite vs G League or Division I basketball was something I saw going around on Twitter. There's not the same competition, it's a new entity, all that. But in this scenario, Ausar Thompson is Halle Berry. Division I basketball is Church and OTE is the grocery store.

Checks out.

Hey, he's right. If you see a special talent, you just sort of know it. Halle Berry is a special talent. I mean, shit she's 56 and still ridiculously attractive. Ausar Thompson has a ton of talent, no one can doubt that no matter what league he's coming from. So you take him 5th, one spot after his twin brother. Gotta admit that would sting a little bit for me. Sure, you can be happy for your twin brother, but you want to be drafted first. You get that distinction like being a minute older or whatever.

But this is how you sell fans on a top-5 pick. Concerns about his game? Not anymore! All you can think about is Halle Berry being attractive in church or a grocery store. Zero percent chance Halle Berry goes to the grocery store though. I mean it's not that bad of a chore. You get to pick out what food you're eating. Sure, you overbuy and end up buying a ton of shit you don't need. But you're just walking around looking at food. Could be in worse spots.

Anyways, congrats to the Pistons and Ausar Thompson and most importantly, Halle Berry.
