Jacqueline went into the local sporting goods store to buy a fishing rod to give to her husband on his 30th birthday.

A salesman wearing dark sunglasses was sitting behind the counter with a service dog lying on the floor beside him offered his assistance, "Can I help you, Miss?"

"I'd like to buy a fishing rod, can you tell me about this one?" she asked, holding the rod up for him to see…

The salesman replied, "I'm sorry, Miss, but I'm legally blind and can't see the rod you're referring to. However, if you drop it on the counter, I'll tell you everything you need to know based on the sound it makes…"

Jacqueline had her doubts but dropped the rod on the counter just as the salesman instructed her to do.

He immediately responded, "That's a Zebco Delta spin-cast rod and reel combo with instant anti-reverse clutch, changeable right or left-hand retrieve, and it's pre-spooled with Zebco fishing line. The cost is $95, including sales tax."

Jacqueline was amazed, so she grabbed another rod and dropped it on the counter…

"That's a Lunkerhunt Sublime bait cast rod and reel combo that offers the perfect balance between design and functionality. It's smooth and accurate, and the reel has a rugged graphite body with an aluminum alloy spool that features precision internals, magnetic cast control, and a premium bearing system. The carbon rod has aluminum guides and a lightweight aluminum handle. The cost is $145, including sales tax."

Totally impressed with the salesman's incredible knowledge of fishing rods, Jacqueline had no reservations about buying a rod from him and decided on the more expensive one.

As the salesman was ringing up the sale, Jacqueline accidentally ripped an incredibly loud fart but felt it wasn't necessary to apologize to the salesman, who, because he was legally blind, had absolutely no idea who she was.

After hitting the keys on the cash register and arriving at a total, the salesman announced, "That'll be $170, Miss…"

"One hundred and seventy dollars?"  Jacqueline objected, "You just told me it was one hundred and forty-five dollars, Sir…"

The salesman replied calmly, "It's $145 for the rod and reel, $13 for the duck call, and $12 for the cut bait, Jackie…"
