The US Open Is Going To Be Unbelievable This Week If These Are The Sort Of Shots We're Getting Early In Round 1

I can't stop laughing at this shot by Michael Brennan. I know Wake is a monster in the golf world, but he's still an amateur playing in the US Open. Taking a line like that and for it to work out is absurd. It's what I want from the US Open. I want carnage. I want guys to have to get creative. I'm all for golf being different week to week. So often we see similar setups and rounds. But LACC? We've never seen this course. We don't know what to expect. 

This is early in round 1. Some of the big names are just teeing off. But if these are the sort of shots we get? Hell yes. When you start watching the shot you wonder what the hell is going on. Instead it's a crazy hill and more importantly the correct line. Hell we saw Rory practicing things like this: 

We're going to see people either 1) get fucked doing things like this or 2) end up winning/getting into contention because of creativity. That's what makes a week like this fun. It's not just going driver, wedge, middle of green and either a birdie or par. We're going to see guys fighting for pars. We're going to see guys get penalized for missing the fairway. 

Quick sidenote, I love the west coast golf. Not saying for the courses or anything like that, but primetime golf is awesome. We need more of it. We get it early in the season with the California swing but we need more primetime majors. I think one of the PGA or US Open should be out on the west coast more often so we get it. You get Augusta standard tee times. You get the British Open nice and early. One of these should always be primetime. Hell one of the featured groups today don't even tee off until 4:43 our time.
