There Is FINALLY A Documentary About Urban Meyer's Tenure At Florida On The Way

Giphy Images.

The inevitable Urban Meyer/Tim Tebow/Aaron Hernandez/Pouncey twins/Cam Newton/Riley Cooper documentary taking a decade to come out is one of the most insane delays of all-time. This thing should have been in production when the jail door slammed shut on Hernandez, but we're getting it now.

I have ridiculously high hopes for this. Obviously the subject matter makes for a great story regardless of who was making the documentary, but this is part of the Untold series — Malice at the Palace, The Girlfriend Who Didn't Exist, The Rise and Fall of AND1 — which have been just absolutely fantastic. We actually interviewed Untold producers Chapman and Maclain Way on Macrodosing last year if you want to check that out.

Those Florida teams are one of those subjects that gets discussed so often that you actually become desensitized to just how insane it was. Meyer, a known scumbag himself, had a team of largely questionable character led by the ultimate Christian at quarterback who was able to wrangle the rest of the group enough to win two national titles in three years. And oh by the way, that guy's back-up — who was kicked off the team for stealing a computer — went on to win a Heisman Trophy and national title of his own at Auburn in one of the best individual seasons in the history of college football. There is no shortage of storylines.

Clear your schedule on August 23. This is a must-watch.
