All Of A Sudden There Are A Lot Of Signs Pointing To A Surprise Team Signing DeAndre Hopkins

We had heard that Kansas City, Buffalo, and Baltimore were the front runners for recently released stud wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. And rightly so. All three are gearing up for Super Bowl runs, all three have potent offenses, and two of the three have QBs who actually throw to receivers on the outside. And for some reason Hopkins also likes Lamar.

But a dark horse team seems to be emerging as a potential suitor for the 30-year old playmaker. The Cleveland Browns.

Tate blogged about this yesterday from the side of the Browns having interest but now we have even more smoke coming from the potential flames of a reunion fire. And I mean we're talking Josh Gordon levels of smoke here.

Setting aside the "Bold Prediction" made by SI, there have been all kids of things connecting Hopkins to the Browns over the past week. First of all (and least surprising), you have his former QB Deshaun Watson saying the Browns would love to have him in Cleveland.

Probably goes without saying that the same QB that helped Hopkins get his first three All-Pro seasons wants to reunite with him. Not exactly breaking news.

But what is far more interesting is that Hopkins just signed a new agent. A new agent that is based out of Cleveland. A new agent that works at for Klutch who also represents Myles Garrett, Jedrick Wills Jr., Ogbo Okoronkwo, Donovan Peoples-Jones, Perrion Winfrey, and Dawand Jones.

Obviously Klutch represents a bunch of players on other teams as well but their Cleveland ties are more abundant than residents who are eskimo brothers with MGK. Yeah, I'm sure your girl just went back stage to hang out and it was super "chill."

Adam Schefter said yesterday that he doesn't think the money works with the Bills and that the Chiefs are the front runner but will take their time. If that's the case I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility for the Browns to sneak in and hand Hopkins a massive prove it deal with all their cap space.

I'm not sure they would want to give him anything longer than a year or two but if the market is as tepid as Schefter says then beggars can't be choosers. And the Browns seem to be pushing their chips into the center of the table.

The receiver room is already crowded in Cleveland but there is always room for a guy with 11k+ yards and 71 touchdowns. And maybe a deep receiver room is what he needs so that he doesnt have to carry the full workload of a #1. After al the guy has played just 19 games the last two seasons.

But the thought of him, Amari Cooper, and Elijah Moore in three wide receiver sets has me bricked up. And I ain't talking Mintzy's wrist.

Make it happen AB. The worst possible scenario is that Watson looks like shit again so go get him every weapon to make sure that won't be the case.
