It's Time To Play America's Favorite Gameshow: Hockey Play Or Aggravated Assault?

The hockey rink is typically a sanctuary. A place where normal rules don't exist. Like ordering a beer at 4:30 in the morning for breakfast at an airport, you're allowed to do whatever you want on a sheet of ice during a hockey game and the worst thing that happens is you sit in the penalty box for 2 minutes. You can hit, you can slash, heck you could probably even bite if you're a total piece of shit. At the end of the day, what happens during the game stays at the game, and everybody moves on with their life afterwards.

The next 10-15 years of this guy's life should probably be spent behind bars, though. That's not a slash, that's assault. We're talking first degree aggravated assault. I would have been fine with just giving him a 5-minute major and maybe tossing him from the game with the one slash. But once that second hack came down? Yeah...buddy might need to spend the money he was saving for a new set of skates on a lawyer.

What I need to know is what happened earlier in the game to get this type of response. Don't get me wrong, I'm not victim blaming here. Clearly it wouldn't take much to set off a psychopath like that. But still, something had to happen. Was he plowing his old lady? Did he celebrate a little too egregiously after a goal earlier in the night? Did he call him a plug? Some context here would be nice is all I'm saying.
