Given the Fact Josh Allen's Girlfriend Was Trolling for Husbands at the Kentucky Derby, We Can Safely Assume He's Single Now

There are many common life experiences that are done today in a way that's still hard to get used to for those of us who grew to adulthood in a pre-internet age. Mostly private moments we only discussed with the people we care about, face to face, that now get shared with the world all at once. Births. Deaths. Illnesses. Asking someone to prom. Hard is this might be to wrap your brain around, there was a time in the distant past where Gender Reveals consisted of calling new grandparents from a pay phone to say, "It's a boy," without hijacking the Saturday of two dozen people with better things to do. 

And nothing that was more private has become more public than the break up. The shame of getting dumped used to be yours and yours alone. In fact, it was often referred to as getting "unceremoniously" dumped, before every fucking life event had to play out like Charles III's Coronation. Back then, you could present the news any way you wanted to. Which invariably meant making yourself the hero of your own story, insisting it was you who dumped them, because you're sick of their nonsense and know you can do better, or whatever. You wrote your own history.

But that (relation)ship has long since sailed. And the more famous you are, the less chance you have of keeping a breakup to yourself. For example, if you're Josh Allen-level famous, and there's been rumors of your high-profile romance blowing up, that's going to be made public, fast. There's no keeping the lid on that jar. It's going to get opened, and all those paper snakes are going to come springing out eventually. You just don't expect it's going to be at America's premiere day of sports, gambling, celebrity and fashion. Yet here we are.

Rumors have swirled around the couple over the last few weeks about their relationship coming to an end. Over the last month, Williams unfollowed the quarterback on Instagram and appeared to celebrate her birthday without him. Additionally, any mention of Buffalo was removed from her account.

Things got a bit more interesting on Saturday when the two went to the Kentucky Derby, but without each other. One of Williams’ friends had an eyebrow-raising post on her Instagram Stories.

"Now accepting husband applications @brittwilll," the post read.

Sad. Tremendously sad. And the kind of thing that no legendary quarterback of the past would ever have had to deal with. A Johnny Unitas or a Kenny Stabler would've just done the Homer Simpson, "Dear Baby, Welcome to Dumpsville, Population: YOU" thing and gone off to bet the ponies with his handsome, well-dressed buddies:

… without a care in the world. Safe in the knowledge his ex wasn't going to make a big display of showing up to the same event trolling for a Sugar Daddy right under his nose. But that was then, and this is now.

Anyway, here's wishing nothing but the best to these two lovely, lovely kids. I hope they can somehow get through the breakup and find someone who loves them for what they are: An insanely attractive woman and a ridiculously talented and wealthy pro athlete. Still, a tough offseason for Allen continues:
