ITYSL is far and away the best sketch show running right now and it feels like forever since the last season came out. It still makes no sense and yet PERFECT sense that SNL didn't get Tim Robinson's sense of humor when he was on staff...
2. Blood & Gold
At the end of World War II, a German soldier is looking for his daughter while an SS troop is looking for a Jewish treasure.
All you need to say is "spaghetti western movie about killing nazi's" and I am IN. Obviously a lot of similar vibes to 'Inglorious Basterds' without the Tarantino but I'm very in on this. Action looked cool and dialogue looked badass.
3. Starship Troopers - 89/100
Set in the future, the story follows a young soldier named Johnny Rico and his exploits in the Mobile Infantry. Rico's military career progresses from recruit to non-commissioned officer and finally to officer against the backdrop of an interstellar war between mankind and an arachnoid species known as "the Bugs".
Like most Paul Verhoeven movies, this gives you some hyperbolic action with some funny political commentary under the surface. Some people will enjoy this just for the action, others for that commentary on America and I will enjoy both when I rewatch.

1. Kingsman: The Secret Service - 87/100
The story of a super-secret spy organization that recruits an unrefined but promising street kid into the agency's ultra-competitive training program just as a global threat emerges from a twisted tech genius.
While the sequel and prequel weren't great, I still love this movie. Really cool world-building, great actors and obviously great action. This church fight alone is worth the metaphorical price of admission.
2. Parasite - 100/100

All unemployed, Ki-taek's family takes peculiar interest in the wealthy and glamorous Parks for their livelihood until they get entangled in an unexpected incident.
I still love this movie so god damn much. Absolute perfection from start to finish. The only thing that sucks about it is that it inspired a trillion other "eat the rich" movies that are all significantly worse in every possible way.
3. Windtalkers - 74/100
Two U.S. Marines in World War II are assigned to protect Navajo Marines, who use their native language as an unbreakable radio cypher.
This is far from a perfect movie but god damn do I love it. Middle school me was glued to the TV every time it came on FX.

1. Popstar: Never Stop Stoppin - 92/100
When his new album fails to sell records, pop/rap superstar Conner4real goes into a major tailspin and watches his celebrity high life begin to collapse. He'll try anything to bounce back, anything except reuniting with his old rap group The Style Boyz.
Popstar is one of the funniest movies of the last decade and it should be respected as such. Still crazy funny with tons of great jokes that hold up to anything coming out today. The song aboe and the Osama bin Laden sex song still kill me.
2. Boogie Nights - 93/100

Set in 1977, back when sex was safe, pleasure was a business and business was booming, idealistic porn producer Jack Horner aspires to elevate his craft to an art form. Horner discovers Eddie Adams, a hot young talent working as a busboy in a nightclub, and welcomes him into the extended family of movie-makers, misfits and hangers-on that are always around. Adams' rise from nobody to a celebrity adult entertainer is meteoric, and soon the whole world seems to know his porn alter ego, "Dirk Diggler". Now, when disco and drugs are in vogue, fashion is in flux and the party never seems to stop, Adams' dreams of turning sex into stardom are about to collide with cold, hard reality.
Inarguably Mark Wahlberg's best role and PTA's second best movie IMO, this is always worth a rewatch.
3. Big Daddy - 86/100
This is the story of 1970s African-American action legend Black Dynamite. The Man killed his brother, pumped heroin into local orphanages, and flooded the ghetto with adulterated malt liquor. Black Dynamite was the one hero willing to fight The Man all the way from the blood-soaked city streets to the hallowed halls of the Honky House…
This movie is an underrated gem that more people have to watch. A great satire of old blaxploitation movies but also just god damn hilarious on it's face.

When CIA Analyst Jack Ryan interferes with an IRA assassination, a renegade faction targets Jack and his family as revenge.
I might just be a big time sucker for CIA agent Jack Ryan but I love this movie. One of my favorite Ford roles and also a great villain appearance from Sean Bean.
2. We Were Soldiers - 83/100

The story of the first major battle of the American phase of the Vietnam War and the soldiers on both sides that fought it.
Much like with Windtalkers earlier, this is an imperfect war movie that is a great turn-off-your-brain watch.
3. Kung Fu Hustle - 84/100
Set in Canton, China in the 1940s, the story revolves in a town ruled by the Axe Gang, Sing who desperately wants to become a member. He stumbles into a slum ruled by eccentric landlords who turns out to be the greatest kung-fu masters in disguise. Sing's actions eventually cause the Axe Gang and the slumlords to engage in an explosive kung-fu battle. Only one side will win and only one hero will emerge as the greatest kung-fu master of all.
This is one of my favorite foreign-language movie and maybe my favorite foreign-language movies in general. Fun action and great comedy, can't ask for much more.
