The Mystery of the Patriots War Room Video Has Been Solved, and Belichick Most Definitely Got his Man
When the Patriots released this video of their braintrust drafting Christian Gonzalez Thursday night, it set off a bombshell of online speculation. The reason being that the Patriots War Room is the most secure facility in the country. Ahead even of the White House Situation Room, the bunker under the Rocky Mountains where all the rich people are going to go to survive WWIII and repopulate the Earth, and the archives where they keep Jeffrey Epstein's client list.
Yet Kraft Media cameras revealed a brief image of a North Carolina game on Bill Belichick's screen. Leading a lot of people to assume he was targeting UNC wide receiver Josh Downs. Myself included:

But let's acknowledge that there could be a dozen reasons why GM Bill is watching that play that has nothing to do with his interest in Downs. He could've been looking at whoever was in coverage on the play. Or some other defender. …
And let's not discount the notion this was done specifically to throw everyone else off the Patriots scent.
Well let this be a lesson there for all you young, aspiring bloggers out there. Always hedge your bet. Never declare how certain you are of anything. Remember that only a Sith deals in absolutes. Because while I was no doubt wrong about the Patriots getting ready to take Downs, it looks like I was right about either the "other defender" part, or the "throw everyone else off" part. And credit where it's due to the people who went back and did the "Enhance. … Zoom in. … Now enhance. …" thing:

While we were all talking about Downs, they ended up taking Keion White. This grumpy Croatian 5-D chessmaster was already 32 moves ahead of the rest of the world. Cramming for Friday's exam by taking a deep dive into White's film. And probably picking the Georgia Tech-UNC game specifically to let the rest of us leap to the assumption he's going with Downs. And we all took the cheese. That's how he ended up with the 15th-ranked player on NFL.com with the 46th pick.
This diabolical genius has figured out a way to turn the simple, harmless, benign War Room video to his advantage. He's weaponized it for mass destruction. Which means it's only a matter of time before the NFL bans Mr. Kraft's camera crews from the War Room and takes away next year's 1st rounder. But if Keion White reaches his full potential, it will have been worth it.
