Aaron Rodgers Is Officially Heading To The Jets As The Packers Finally Got Themselves The Trade Haul They Wanted

Billy is covering this from the Jets perspective, but all I can say is thank god this is over. Don't get me wrong, obviously it's pretty sad seeing a franchise legend move on like this, just as the one before him did, but this needed to end. It honestly felt like half a year had gone by since Rodgers went on Pat's show and announced his decision to play for the Jets. After that you had the passive aggressive overload from both sides. I never really thought it wouldn't get done, but they took this right up til draft week to finalize. How about Shefty breaking it on live TV? Orlovsky's face was priceless.

All in all, I think that's a pretty good haul for a guy who very well could only be playing one more season. Move up in this year's first round, snag a good 2nd round pick, and if he plays 65% of the snaps in 2023 you get an additional 1st. I like tying that condition to snap count rather than wins or playoff success. Something would really have to go wrong for him to not play 65% of the snaps, and even if that's the case that likely means the 2nd round pick is super high. I give Gute a ton of shit in general, but he did very well here. Seems like the Jets brass caved to that last part which got this done.

For a guy who was 90% retired and on the decline with no other teams realistically in the bidding war? Pretty fucking good.

If you're of the Jets you have to be ecstatic and could not care less about the compensation. Will it work out? Probably not, but that's well worth the gamble when you consider the alternative. Even if Rodgers doesn't return to his MVP form of two seasons ago, the Jets get themselves a QB with talent they've never had before.

Also I love that he'll only be known for wearing 12 with Green Bay.

Let the Love Boat era begin. I'm pretty excited to see what the kid can do over the course of a year. If it all goes to shit then you do whatever you can for Caleb Williams, but I have a feeling Love is going to be just fine.

Thanks for everything Aaron, even if it only resulted in just one Super Bowl ring it was still an awesome fucking ride to witness. Can already see the headlines with the Packers finally taking a skill position player in the first round on Thursday. Dalton Kincaid make it happen.
