Royals Second Baseman Nate Eaton Came In To Pitch During A Blowout And Was Throwing 95 MPH Gas With Sink

Well this is simply not fair to the Texas Rangers hitters who had to come to the plate in the eighth inning last night. The Royals brought in their second baseman Nate Eaton to pitch in a nine-run game and it turns out he was their secret weapon the whole time. He should be one of the first guys out of the Kansas City bullpen.

Forget the fact he can run it up to 95 miles per hour, look at the break on that sinker:

What percentage of big league pitchers throw a pitch that has that much arm-side run? Twenty-five?

Eaton is hitting .059 (1-17) so far in 2023, so if he continues his cold spell with the bat for a few more weeks, the Royals need to try him out of the bullpen for a little while. They brought in an actual pitcher last night who gave up six runs in two-thirds of an inning, so I don't really see an argument against giving the guy with clearly nasty stuff a shot.

We want more Eaton on the bump.
