Protests Have Been Going On In France For Weeks And Now People Have Stormed The Headquarters Of Financial Firm Blackrock

"There's a huge protest going on in France"

"Still or again?"

"Still"

I was talking to a friend of mine recently who had been living in France for a while and asked what was going on because the images of riot police, flares, fires, and destruction are shocking to see in one of the world's most beautiful and important cities. They said that the protests/rallies were like legit fun and peaceful. People marching instead of working. Drinking wine as they walked instead of just drinking at lunch. Protests were wide-spread, but laregley not containing the level of vitriol that makes its way to the internet.

Well it appears that the protestors have taken things up a notch and are going after one of the biggest financial institutions in the world. Eddie and I talked about Blackrock and their role in fucking up the housing market for the middle class last year.

This thing where the people are lighting Macron's favorite restaurant on fire is bullshit though. I don't know enough about Macron to decide if he is scum or not. My guess is he is just another corrupt stuffed suit politician like every other person in government, but I'd also bet that he has GREAT taste when it comes to dining. That restaurant didn't do anything except serve paying customers, one of which happens to be hated by a large part of the population. This is the negative side of protests. People destroy small businesses that EVERYONE can benefit from. Well, probably not everyone. I bet a lot of people are priced out, but that isn't the restaurant's fault. Fois Gras isn't going to cook itself. Shit ain't cheap.

Protests are fine. Put Macron in the guillotine for all I care, but leave food alone.

These things don't appear to be setling down anytime soon.

some peaceful ones though
