Rivalry We Didn't Know Existed: Mario Chalmers Accepts Cam'ron's Challenge To A 1-on-1 Game, Cam Claims He'll Win If He Gets 10 Days To Practice
[Source] - In the latest episode of It Is What It Is, Killa Cam and Ma$e debated Chalmers’ recent controversial comments about how he felt nobody in the NBA “feared” LeBron James amid his basketball dominance.
Cam’ron went a step further and claimed he could beat the former NBA pro one-on-one as long as he had about 10 days to work out and get in shape for the contest.
I didn't think I'd be here on the day before the Final Four talking about Cam'ron and Mario Chalmers. But this is the beautiful, dumbass world we live in. I didn't know I needed to see Cam'ron play 1-on-1 but it's all I can think about now. Well, as long as Cam gets 10 days to prep. That's fair. That's anyone over the age of 35 or so where hey I'm ready to challenge you to something, but I need time to get my body right. 10 days will do the trick.
This all stems from Chalmers saying nobody feared LeBron. I can't think of two better guys to stick up for LeBron than Cam and Ma$e. Seems pretty unfair for me to have to say yeah that was a dumb statement by Chalmers. Also unfair that two guys with jam after jam took LeBron's side. My hands are tied there.
Naturally Cam took it a step further and said he'd beat Chalmers 1-on-1. It's like the can you score on Harrison Barnes type deal. Everyone thinks Chalmers sucks because he was an average player in the NBA. Even if he won a couple titles. Even if he made the NBA. Even if he hit a shot that forced OT and won a national title for Kansas. You know, pretty big player!
Now it's not like Cam'ron never played:
[Source] - However, it should be noted that the rapper had a decent basketball career of his own, allegeldy being recruited by schools like Georgetown University and Syracuse University.
The rapper, whose real names is Cameron Giles, received an offer to play for Navarrio College in Texas, but he apparently tore his hamstring at the start of his collegiate career and later got kicked out of school after a weapons arrest.
“He was a defender and he knew his role on the team,” Tom Konchalski said. “… But he was a good basketball player — typical inner-city, tough, gritty-but-focused guard.”
Give that man 10 days and he's ready to run the 2-3 for Boeheim. No bones about it. I love how this is basically the athletic, talented version of a certain 1-on-1 game that is famous on this here website between a couple of guys. I think you know which one I'm talking about. A lot of backdowns. A lot of heavy breathing and missed shots. Yeah, this would be the opposite of that.
Oh and if that wasn't enough. Ma$e challenged CHRIS PAUL. Hall of Famer Chris Paul!
The Harlem World rapper even called his own number and challenged future NBA Hall-of-Famer Chris Paul to a battle on the hardwood. You could beat Chalmers; I could beat Chris Paul,” he declared.
What the hell did Chris Paul do to get dragged into this rivalry? I guess he's friends with LeBron? That's the only thing I can think of. But come on saying you can beat Chris Paul is OUTRAGEOUS. The dude is awesome at 1-on-1 ball. Fuck it, I think I want to watch Ma$e vs CP more than Chalmers vs Cam.
So now it needs to happen. Mario Chalmers said run it on Twitter. That's a binding agreement and that can't be broken. Fair is fair, give Cam 10 days to get his body right. Game to 21 by 1s and 2s. Make it happen. Get Ma$e vs Chris Paul. Then a 2-on-2 game. Love that they are just going old school and trying to settle it by playing hoops.
