Jada Pinkett Smith is Not Happy an 'Obsessed' Chris Rock Made Jokes About Getting Slapped by Her Husband

Ah, these were happier times. The 18th Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards, to be exact. So for (L to R) Jada Pinkett Smith, Chris Rock and Will Smith, that would be 18 years, dozens of films, hundreds of TV appearances, several style changes, and one viral moment they'll all be associated with until the heat death of the universe ago. And we can add, one phenomenal stand up special ago.

Which, according to "sources," Jada is none too pleased with:

Source - Just days after Chris Rock blasted Will Smith and wife Jada Pinkett Smith on his live Netflix special Selective Outrage, sources close to Jada are claiming Rock is 'obsessed' with her.

Many fans already criticized Rock, 58, for choosing Pinkett Smith's hometown of Baltimore to film his special, where he addressed Smith's Oscar slap, Jada's 'entanglement' with August Alsina and much, much more.

Now a source close to Pinkett Smith, 51, has claimed to People that Rock has been 'obsessed' with Jada for decades, adding she has nothing to do with the drama.

'Jada has had no part in all of this other than being heckled. Chris is obsessed with her and that's been going on for almost 30 years,' the source claims.

'Look where he chose to film his Netflix special. Her hometown [of Baltimore]. Obsessed,' the source added. …

'Years ago, his wife said I should quit the Oscars. I shouldn't host 'cause her man didn't get nominated for Concussion. And then he gives me a fing concussion,' Rock said during the special.

The source close to Jada disputes this. …

Nobody's pickin' on this btch. She started this st. Nobody was pickin' on her,' Rock said in the 90-minute special.

The source claimed Jada was, 'shocked at how many times Chris used the word b*tch in referring to Jada.'

Just to do this in last in/first out order, I didn't count how many times Rock B-bombed Jada in Selective Outrage. But it sounds like she has no issue with him filling the Swear Jar in the span of about 20 seconds when it came to talking about her husband:

Beyond that, it's hard to find flaws in her logic. Not because there aren't any flaws, but because there is no logic.

I mean, it's a bold statement to claim she wasn't at all involved in The Slap. By now we've all seen it more than videos from 9/11, so there's no need to repost it here. Rock makes the GI Jane joke. Will Smith laughs along with everyone else. Except his wife. They make eye contact. His face changes. He storms the stage. Commits assault and battery. He goes back to his seat. And she's giving him hearteyes as he starts screaming at Rock. To suggest she played no bigger role than say, the cast of Licorice Pizza is nonsense. The Slap was slapped on her behalf, for her benefit, and with her obvious approval. It takes a brilliant revisionist historian to argue otherwise.

As far as the joke about Concussion, it doesn't matter if Jada actually told Rock he shouldn't host The Oscars. The operative word in this sentence I just wrote is "joke." If a guy who once starred in a movie called Concussion hits you in the head on international TV, you're going to connect those dots a million times out of a million. That's Rock's job, FFS. Whether the premise is true or not doesn't matter any more than Norm MacDonald's bit about a depressed moth walking into a podiatrist's office.

Finally, who can say if Chris Rock is "obsessed" with Jada Pinkett Smith, other than Chris Rock and/or Jada Pinkett Smith. I mean, maybe that's why he picked her out of the crowd last year as opposed to say, Jennifer Lawrence. But it takes a planet-sized ego to claim he shot his special in Baltimore because she's from there. Unless he taped it next door to where she lives or in her back yard. The last I checked, Baltimore was a major city on the East Coast with a population of about 600,000. Are they all there because JPS is? What's next? Is she going to claim the only reason the Ravens and Orioles play there is because it's her hometown?

The bottom line is that the Smiths continue to find new and more spectacular ways to expose just how ridiculous they are. And Chris Rock keeps turning it into great comedy, like one of the best comics of all time, which he is. And it's safe to say Mrs. Smith isn't going to get her wish on this one:
