On today's Pardon My Take… CHRISTIAN YELICH! The longtime recurring guest joined Mr. Cat and Mr. Commenter in Arizona to discuss his Home Run Derby bet with PMT, Spring Training, getting ejected, and much more.

Yelich, the 2018 NL MVP, has been tossed from a game multiple times throughout his career. On today's show, he reminisced with the guys on those moments and what led up to them. In this blog, we are going to break down each ejection, and if applicable, we'll get Yelich's take on it based off what he said on today's show. Let's get into it…

May 9th, 2017 - Yelich And Manager Don Mattingly Ejected For Arguing Balls And Strikes

This was Christian Yelich's first ever ejection, and he wasn't alone in hitting the showers early. After striking out looking in the 1st inning, you could hear Yelich telling the home plate umpire, "There is no fucking chance … there is no fucking way … two nights in a row, two nights in a row!" Mattingly then came out to defend his player, and the manager was tossed for the second straight game. On today's show, Yelich discussed how him and Mattingly were just sitting in the locker room alongside the team president [David Samson], and how the Marlins blew a 5-1 lead in the 8th inning. Not ideal!

July 10th, 2021 - Yelich Argues Being Called Out By First Base Umpire After Being Tagged In Fair Territory

Yelich laid down a beautiful bunt down the 3rd base line against the Reds, but he turned towards 2nd base and was tagged + called out by the 1st base umpire. By lip reading here, I could tell that Yelich said "YOU MOTHERFUCKER!" and then had to be held back by his 1st base coach. As he was walking towards the dugout, he turned around and yelled, "THAT IS FUCKING TERRIBLE!"

July 10th, 2022 - Yelich Gets Ejected After Unhappy With A Check Swing Strike 3 Call

On today's show, Yelich described this sequence step-by-step. After he didn't like the call that he swung on strike three, he left his bat near the batter's box area. When the umpire told him to pick up the bat after striking out, Yelich responded by saying, "You fucking pick it up!" That'll do it, no doubt.

Credit to Yelich here because he contained his emotions. This was as calm as you'll see in terms of body language while still getting tossed. A true role model.
