McDonald's Newest Promotion Seems To Be Handing Out Bags Of Cash

There's a few things to unpack here. First off, the obvious question, how does McDonald's let this happen? I know they're dealing with thousands of McDonald's bags per day, but you have to be mindful of the the one that contains thousands of dollars. The 'thousands of dollars bag' should not be in circulation with the 'Egg McMuffin bag'. It should never be on the same table, or even in the same room. More importantly, the cash shouldn't be in a god damn McDonald's bag at all. It seems incredibly shady that this McDonald's was storing individually packaged ziploc bags of cash inside of a McDonald's take out bag, and had it ready to go next to the drive thru window.

It has to be money from the register right? I'm sure McDonald's isn't paying out their employees in cash. If I'm giving this McDonald's the benefit of the doubt that everything here is on the up and up, I assume that money was probably headed to the bank. But idk... maybe use a money purse or something? Perhaps a lock box? For what purpose does the money go from the cash register, into ziploc bags, then into a McDonald's takeout bag. I think (but might be way off) the most logical explanation is that they put the money in a takeout bag so when the employee leaves the store to drive it to the bank, it's not obvious that they're carrying a bunch of money. That would actually make sense.

But that explanation is lame. Maybe this McDonald's is involved in some sort of illegal activity. Maybe the manager at his McDonald's was selling heroin. Not the deadly fentanyl-laced kind either. The safe kind of heroin. The heroin that John Travolta had in Pulp Fiction. I guess Uma Thruman did OD on that, but that's because she thought it was cocaine. But maybe customers know if you go through the drive-thru at this particular McDonald's and order a 'Filet-o-Fish hold the fish', they'll put a point of H in your order. Maybe the next man in line had the re-up, and that money was meant for him.

This article doesn't specify the location of this McDonald's, but maybe.... have we considered the fact that it might be a McDonald's near Knoxville, Tennessee?

Was this money on it's way to Neyland Stadium to be divvied up amongst a few 2 star recruits (it was only a few thousand dollars so it definitely wasn't buying any 4 or 5 stars).

It's hard to say. On a separate note. Regarding guy in the TikTok who received the money. For some reason he returned it...

NY Post - Vargas then turned around to return the moolah to the restaurant. this

“Why would you guys do this to me? Do you know how bad I want this money?” Vargas seemingly asked himself as he got out of his car.

When he gave it back to the employees inside, he jokingly asked them if they were laundering money. The crew working that day seemed to be quite relieved that they got their cash back, as a chorus of “Oh, my Gods” erupted between them.

I suppose he did the right thing. Whether that money was meant for the bank, the drug dealer in the Toyota Camry waiting menacingly outside the front door, or the Tennessee Volunteers football program, if that money wasn't returned somebody was getting fucked. I don't have a problem stealing money from any of those people, but unfortunately that's not who would be punished. I'm not trying to get a McDonald's employee fired and/or murdered.

I'm actually curious, would there have been legal ramifications is he just drove away with the cash? I think you probably are required by law to return the money, but that's kind of bullshit. If someone willingly hands you a bag of cash, that's finders keepers. Finders keepers should be protected by law.

And another thing.

“They were just all hugging me and thanking me and crying, and I get free McDonald’s for a month, I guess,” Vargas said to his camera when he was back in the car after doing the good deed. He also claimed they gave him a $200 reward.

In a follow-up video, Vargas admitted that he later went back to McDonald’s — but this time, they had no idea who he was.

“They put my name down and my number, and I had to pay for my two McChickens and a Sprite, which is fine. I’m not too worried about it,” he claimed.

The employees "were all just hugging me and thanking me and crying." Were the employees really THAT excited about money that was going straight to Ronald McDonald's pockets? They wouldn't have all been fired right? And received a $200 reward. That kind of implies the money might not have been headed to the bank to be deposited on behalf of McDonald's. Would a McDonald's Manager really have the power to give a customer $200 of cash register money destined for the bank? I don't feel like they have any power at all. I guess he could have replaced it with money out of his own pocket or something, but I don't know.  And then they didn't honor his free McDonald's for a month? There's something fishy going on here.
