Jadeveon Clowney Went Full Nuclear On The Browns Claiming They Put Myles Garrett On Inferior Lineman To Help Him Get To The Hall Of Fame

BEREA, Ohio — Browns defensive end Jadeveon Clowney believes Sunday’s finale in Pittsburgh will be his last with the Browns because he wants to go where he’s valued.

“Ninety-five percent sure I won’t be back,” Clowney told cleveland.com on Thursday. “But there’s still that 5 percent. You never know what can happen.”

Clowney, who missed four games this season because of an ankle injury and concussion, said he’ll likely be gone because he doesn’t think the Browns put him in the best positions to excel.

“I just feel like I need to be around somebody that believes in me and my ability,” Clowney, who will turn 30 on Feb. 14 said. “(It can’t) just be me believing in myself. I believe in myself more than anybody.”

Cleveland Browns defensive end and perennially disgruntled employee Jadeveon Clowney has never been shy with his words. There is a reason he has played for four teams in the past five years and isn't for lack of production.

This past offseason, when he did his annual "hold out until the end of free agency and see who gets injured so I can hold a franchise hostage and make as much money on my one year deal as possible" thing, he ended up with the same team two years in a row for the first time since Houston. Maybe Jadeveon found coaches he loves to play for and a defensive end counterpart in Myles Garrett that can help him be the best version of himself? EL OH FUCKING EL.

“There’s supposed to be a lot of changes around here next year, so they might not be back — and I might,” Clowney said.

The root cause of his unhappiness — which has lingered throughout the season — is that he feels the Browns have removed him from favorable matchups at various points throughout the season, and put Myles Garrett on a lesser offensive lineman instead to showcase their star defensive end.

Now this is a tough one for me. Because my default setting is now and always will be fuck Joe Woods. The Browns got top 12 QB play from Jacoby Brissett in the first 11 games but the defense let them down time and time again.

No defensive coordinator in the league does less with more but somehow gets the defense to string together enough decent performances late in the season to keep his job. It's absolutely maddening. (And not the funny kind directed by the genius legend himself Corey Smutledge).

But that being said, wouldn't you want to move your pass rushing weapon around and match him up against the weakest lineman on the opposing defense? I'm no Dick LeBeau (just a regular old Dick Head) but I'm pretty sure that's how you get Myles to 31 sacks the past two seasons. The guy is just 2.5 behind Nick Bosa for the NFL sack lead for Christ's sake.

And it's not like Clowney has been some monster and they are just burying him. The guy has never had double digit sacks in his career and only has 2 sacks in 12 games this season. A pretty substantial drop off from his 9 last year. And on top of that he apparently refused to play most of the Ravens game a few weeks ago.

Clowney said things came to a head during the 13-3 victory over the Ravens when he discovered before the game they were flip-flopping him with Garrett.

“We practiced all week, and we get in the game and they want to move me,” he said. “I’m not doing that (stuff). I’m old. I’ve done my job.”

He opted to play only third downs that game because of the switch, winding up with only 22 snaps for 35%.

That's a wild move when your team is still alive in the playoff hunt. But then again no one has ever mistaken Clowney for a guy who put winning above everything else. Unless of course you mean winning the biggest paycheck he could every offseason.

And honestly, all that wouldn't even be so bad if he was still the run stuffer he used to be. But last year he recorded his lowest ever PFF grade against the run. And this year…well I'm way too cheap to pay for PFF's subscription but I can't imagine it's much better since he has just 28 tackles on the eighth worst run defense in the league.

“You’re all trying to get somebody into the Hall of Fame when all that matters is winning,” Clowney said. “Everybody got here for a reason, and we can all make plays. I know I am.”

Clowney, playing on his second straight one-year contract here — this one worth $10 million — made it abundantly clear that he has no beef with Garrett, who’s a good friend and a great complement when they’re on the field together.

Wow. Well maybe Myles is a great friend to you but it doesn't sound like that friendship is a two-way street, buddy. Unless of course that two-way street only allows busses and Jadeveon is throwing Myles' limp body that he just pulled from a wrecked Porsche under them.

“I don’t even think (Garrett) notices,” Clowney said of the position switches. “I ain’t trying to say it’s him. I try to get along with everybody I play with. Me and him don’t have a problem. It ain’t his fault. It’s just B.S., and I don’t have time for it.”

He said the Browns have “got their own guys, and I ain’t one of them, so it’s time for me to get my exit slip.”

This is the smartest thing Clowney said in the entire interview. It is time to get your exit slip (whatever the fuck that is). And before you leave please stop in the copy room, make a few more, and give them to the entire dog shit defensive staff.

Both Joe Woods and Clowney can kick rocks.
