Roger Federer Tells a Great Story About a Wimbledon Security Guard Not Recognizing Him And Denying Entry Because He Didn't Have His Membership Card

There are so many reasons to love Roger Federer. I could spend hours detailing each one, but instead of that we'll focus today's blog on his storytelling and humility.

Recently on Trevor Noah's final Daily Show, Fed detailed a story from a few weeks ago where he was denied entry into Wimbledon because he didn't have his membership card and wasn't recognized by the gate attendant. It's a lazy Saturday, you've got five minutes to watch the clip below.

First of all, I love the person who was manning the gates here. No ID card, no entry. Don't care if you're the King of England or Roger Fucking Federer you're not getting inside without your card. You're paid to do a job at one of the most prestigious places on Earth, you best make sure you follow every rule perfectly. Not their job to recognize famous people in the world, even if he's a God on those grounds and has his name plastered all over the damn place.

By the way, we gotta change the rules up at Wimbledon if we're expecting guys like Roger Federer to have their fucking membership cards on them.

This story shows all the reasons why Federer is so like-able. I mean how about the way he told that? I was captivated for every second. What a charming motherfucker Fed is. Also, you know how many asshole athletes these days would blow that story up and tweet some bullshit complaints about being disrespected? Federer gets denied and just listens to the security guard. It made him want to die inside saying he's won the tournament 8 times as a last gasp attempt. Who in their right mind wouldn't do that in his spot? Well, it didn't work so he listened and tried the other door. My man is just trying to have some tea before his flight.

Obviously a lot of athletes and celebrities put on a fake-face for the public and depict themselves as something they truly aren't off camera. Ellen comes to mind right away as one of those frauds. But based on everything we've ever seen and heard from Federer I can't see how he's not this nice, genuine, humble dude out of the camera shot. Never encountered a single bad word said about him outside of Djokovic's dad who is a legitimate crazy person.

Now I will say out of all the incredible feats Federer has pulled off in his career, getting me to watch a twenty minute Trevor Noah interview might be his most impressive. You can catch that here if you really have nothing going on today. Naturally Federer carries this whole thing.

Fucking Trevor Noah. How does he do it? Not only is he good friends with Fed and got to play in an exhibition match with him in Africa once, but he somehow pulls top tier women as well. This guy went from Minka Kelly…
