It Begins: The Giants And Cowboys Have Reportedly Emerged As Front-Runners For Odell Beckham Jr., Who Won't Sign Until After Thanksgiving

NFL- The Cowboys and Giants have emerged as two of the favorites to sign free-agent receiver Odell Beckham Jr., who plans to visit both NFC East rivals after this week's Thanksgiving holiday, per sources. These are the only known visits scheduled for Beckham, though he could take others before making a decision on where to sign.

Beckham, 30, did visit the Giants' facility last month to check on former teammate Sterling Shepard after Shepard's ACL tear, but did not meet with the team's brass. This time, it's planned, and an improbable reunion with the team that selected him 12th overall in the 2014 NFL Draft is a possibility.

The Cowboys have been very open about their pursuit of Beckham -- especially owner Jerry Jones, who kicked things into overdrive when he said in a radio interview two weeks ago, "We have all the appreciation in the world for Odell. I know the Cowboys star on that helmet, when he puts it on, could look pretty good." Sources say the interest is mutual with Beckham, who likely will visit The Star next Monday or Tuesday.

Well shit. It was already going to be hard enough for Giants fans to enjoy their Thanksgiving dinner on the biggest feast of the year because a massive side of anxiety will be dished out next to the turkey, stuffing, and mashed potatoes thanks is a massive NFC Beast game taking place that day in Dallas. I am already sick thinking that the greatest offensive weapon and coolest player I have ever seen on Big Blue will potentially be deciding if he will come back home or go to the goddamn Cowboys (Writer’s/Editor's/Life Note: Fuck the Cowboys) based on what happens in what will no doubt be called the Odell Bowl.  Likely with Odell in Jerry Jones’ suite.

I know Odell is only 9 months removed from a second torn ACL and this entire process has been exhausting since he started publicly flirting with the Giants on Twitter. But a recovering Odell is still better than pretty much every other receiver the Giants have.

Shout out Dave Gettleman for making this entire reunion even possible. I know he is the guy that shipped Odell out of town after constantly saying he didn't sign Odell to trade him. But Gettleman is also the bozo that cobbled together an absolute nightmare receiver room that has my fat ass a couple of injuries away from getting a call to line up out wide (I have immaculate hands) and a bazillion dollars in dead cap that handcuffed Joe Schoen from doing anything to help Daniel Jones in his make or break season.

Luckily Danny Dimes doesn't rely only on his moneymaking arm to make plays, which has allowed the Giants to start 7-2 in his first season featuring a full coaching staff that has functioning brains.

(Yes that was a shameless shirt plug but I don't know how much longer they will be in the store)

Meanwhile, signing a big name like Odell would be the most Jerry Jones thing outside of drinking virgins blood to stay alive then diving into the nearest Glory Hole.

Keeping a shiny toy like Odell away from Jerruh as well as stopping the Cowboys from getting a star player to fill an obvious need that could allow them to win their first Super Bowl since Bill Clinton's first term would feel almost as good as the Giants signing a receiver that actually knows how to catch a fucking football. Plus we can't forget that the moment that turned Odell into a rockstar which resulted in every thing he said/did being picked apart and was the little domino in that meme with the big domino being Odell getting shipped to Cleveland (that God awful Lil Wayne interview was definitely the last domino to fall)

Since this is Odell Beckham Jr., I fully expect this entire ordeal be drawn out in every facet of media and probably end with him signing with whoever wins on Thanksgiving, no matter how much better it must be to be around Brian Daboll than Mike McCarthy. I also won't even be a little surprised if Odell's agent takes him to a "mystery team" after driving up his price using the sentimental Giants angle and Jerruh Gets What Jerruh Wants angle.

Regardless of what happens, I just can't wait until it's all over. At least we don't have to hear from Giants fans saying Odell can't win a big game considering he was a big part the Rams made the Super Bowl and was on pace to win Super Bowl MVP before his knee got shredded.

If Odell does sign with the Cowboys, I wouldn’t be opposed to the Giants responding by bringing back Amani Toomer. He is probably better than what we currently have at 48 years young and at the very least can block, which is the most important thing for this offense right now.
