DE'AARON FOX FROM THE HALFCOURT LOGO FOR THE WIN IN OVERTIME!!

Holy shit what a finish! The Magic were free-throwing the Kings to death, just plugging away and extending the game as much as they could in overtime. Suddenly, an errant pass results in a steal and a game-tying dunk — only for De'Aaron Fox to say...

Giphy Images.

Look I realize Dikembe Mutombo never played for the Kings — what a bullet to dodge, that — and that his finger wag celebration was always in reference to the many times he blocked somebody's shot. It was also the first basketball-related thing that sprung to mind and a "NOT TODAY" GIF seemed lame.

Even crazier is the fact that Fox, who scored 37 points on the night, is a career 32.1% 3-point shooter. That's a gigantic hole in his game that other elite lead guards don't share. In any event, Bless De'Aaron Fox's heart. He's doing his damndest to put on a good face while Sacramento features a revolving door of roster pieces around him and trades away easily his most promising backcourt mate in Tyrese Haliburton for no apparent fucking reason. I will never understand what the Kings are doing from a team-building standpoint until they prove they're a sustainable winner in real actual life.

But anyway, good for De'Aaron Fox! The final score of this contest notwithstanding, I think Sacramento can at least turn into a decent defensive squad under new head coach Mike Brown. That was his calling card during his time in Cleveland. He'll need Fox and the other Kings guys to get mad buckets to have any chance at a .500-ish record. Following a 0-4 start, Sacramento has won three of four! Is there hope? I'll believe it when I see it.
