The Jaguars Get Still-Suspended Calvin Ridley At The Deadline For Two Conditional Draft Picks

Calvin Ridley's time with the Atlanta Falcons has officially come to an end as the Jacksonville Jaguars got the receiver at the deadline for a 2023 fifth round pick and somewhere between a second and fourth round pick in 2024.

Ridley is still suspended indefinitely and at least for the entirety of the 2022 season after placing bets on Falcons games last season. And believe it or not, those bets were placed in the state of Florida the week the Falcons played the Jags.

So I guess everything has come full-circle for Calvin.

It seems like everyone is confident Ridley will be back for the 2023 season — Jacksonville certainly is, at least — but he will come back next year having not played since the middle of 2021, when he left the Falcons for mental health reasons.

If he shows up in Jacksonville and is what he showed early in his career, though, this is a steal for the Jags and another weapon for Trevor Lawrence heading into his third season. I guess the Falcons also want Ridley to perform as well as possible and sign a long-term deal to stay in Jacksonville so one of those draft picks escalates to a second rounder.

As far as this trade goes for the Falcons, they have Drake London and Kyle Pitts and getting anything for a receiver that left your team in the middle of last season and then got caught gambling on games seems like an alright deal to me.

I guess we'll see if Ridley is able to revive his career with Lawrence and Doug Pederson.
