Derek Jeter Saying Aaron Boone Showing The 2004 ALCS Collapse "Made Him Sick" Is Cute Considering All The Things He's Done That Make Me Sick

NY Post - Jeter was more perplexed.

“I heard about that,’’ Jeter said of the video being sent out. “I don’t know the context. I still don’t like to talk about [the ’04 ALCS] myself. It makes me sick just thinking about it.”

The story coming out around baseball was that Aaron Boone used the 2004 Yankees collapse as "motivation" for this year's current Yankees team who faced a 3-0 deficit in the ALCS. Bronx Bombers fans , and players, and basically everyone who roots for the Yankees was outraged. Michael Kay went as far as compare it to showing "theater shootings to the Kennedy family."

The Kennedy take is a little wild but that's why Michael Kay was #2 behind Francesa in the ratings since grass was green. He's always been a try hard. He knew what he was doing with that clip, he wanted the attention via the shock value.

I am somewhere in the middle of this whole Boone saga. His team's down 3-0, he's desperate. At that point anything is on the table to try and get a spark. It's a less than 5% chance anything he does works to win 4 games in a row, but I know for a fact it's less than 5% if you don't try something. In that sense I get Boone's tactic. On the flip side, I get the outrage of the Yankees fans and their former players. Don't bring up bad memories, you know people are going to get pissed. He could have read the room a little bit better there.

The one thing I do have a strong take on is Jeter weighing in that "it made him sick". Now if you know me you know I have been very vocal about Derek Jeter and all the shitty things he's done as a teammate.

You can read all about it here

I find it cute that a guy like Jeter who puts himself above everyone given all those examples would say something makes him sick like the 2004 ALCS video being used for motivation. Just look at those examples. Excluding teammates from using an intro, relying on a fat 12 year old reaching over the fence to bail you out of a long fly ball, and refusing to move to 3rd base.

Get a grip Derek. You are sick? You make me sick.

And just in case you think I'm exaggerating, here's a one more examples /stories that will show make you sick as a competitor/ fan of the great game of baseball.

Take the time in 1999 when a melee ensued and Jeter refused to back up his teammates:

Bleacher Report - The two men couldn't have been more different. Curtis was always serious, intense and kept his emotions to himself, while Jeter always had a smile on his face (until the 2011 season) and often kidded around with the opposition.

During a game in early August 1999, Seattle Mariners pitcher Frankie Rodriguez (no, not the ace closer of New York's most beloved team, the New York Mets) screamed at some of the Yankees. New Yorker catcher Joe Girardi told Rodriguez that if he wanted to fight he should get out of the dugout and do it. He did.

The brawl ended quickly as the players separated the future Yankees manager and the hot-headed pitcher.

Jeter and Seattle shortstop Alex Rodriguez ignored the melee. They stood near home plate, joking with each other. Each had a broad grin on his face.

Chad Curtis was livid. To him, Jeter and A-Rod kidding around was a terrible breach of an unwritten but well-know baseball code: When your teammate is in a fight, you don't laugh with an opposing player, regardless of how friendly you are off the field.

In the dugout, Curtis and Jeter exchanged angry words. Curtis told him that he was a good player, but that he did not know how to play the game.

Add this to the long list of examples of Jeter being a selfish prick, and you can see why I am a little irritated he says something makes him sick when all he did his whole career is things that can make you sick .
