Clemson Benches D.J. Uiagalelei, Freshman Cade Klubnik Leads Comeback Against Syracuse

Clemson found itself down 21-10 to Syracuse late in the third quarter with D.J. Uiagalelei having thrown two interceptions when Dabo Swinney opted to bring in true freshman 5-star Cade Klubnik. While Klubnik only attempted four passes, Clemson's offense seemed to have a new life about it when the freshman entered the game.

The Tigers scored the last 17 points of the game to hold off previously undefeated Syracuse 27-21.

Obviously the story for Clemson now becomes who takes the first snap of the game when the Tigers travel to Notre Dame in two weeks following a bye. Swinney said after the game Uiagalelei was still his quarterback going forward, but D.J. certainly looked today like he had morphed back into the 2021 version of himself before being taken out in favor of Klubnik.

However the Tigers got there, they did enough to remain undefeated and squarely in the College Football Playoff picture.
