Juwan Howard Pissed Off A Bunch Of Oregon Fans By Talking About Owing His Wife A Big Smooch On The Lips ... Wait, What?

Well not necessarily just because he talked about kissing his wife, but I wasn't going to give away the whole story there. Basically here's what has happened. Michigan and Oregon signed a deal to play a home-and-home. They played at Michigan in 2019 (an Oregon win) and were supposed to play at Oregon in 2020. Obviously something happened that year which caused mayhem in the college basketball world.

Now Oregon wants that rematch. It ain't happening.

[Source] - “Last that I read in the contract it states that we don’t owe them a game,” Howard told reporters in Ann Arbor on Friday. “If I recall, last time in that contract I wasn’t here when we signed the contract; I think it was with coach (John) Beilein. And with our schedule it’s just hard to fit that game in this year and then possibly also next year, but we’ll see what the future holds.

The game contract between Oregon and Michigan, signed in the spring of 2019, lists “date TBD” by the schools for a game in Eugene in 2020 and has a $250,000 cancellation fee as well as a force majeure clause that voids the contract in the event of an “act of God,” government order or “the occurrence of any other event that is beyond the reasonable control of a party.”

Whatever, shit happens. I just love that Howard is stirring more shit up. He squashes the beef with Greg Gard only to get Oregon riled up.

I honestly like Juwan Howard. I have nothing against him. I say it all the time but college sports are mostly due to coaches. That's who we think of when we think of programs because we have a limited time with the players no matter the sport. Howard is a Michigan Man through and through obviously. I want him to keep pissing off fans and teams because I find it entertaining. It's why someone like Hunter Dickinson fits so well with him from a personality standpoint.

We're going to get a lot of stories like this going forward thanks to conference expansion. Non-conference games and scheduling is going to be a bitch to navigate. Conferences are going to want to expand some of their own schedules and then you have teams not wanting to play others. Factor in the buy games that everyone has plus built-in rivalries and everything else and it's going to be messy.

Either way, we're less than a month to the start of the season and Juwan Howard already pissed off a fanbase. Basketball is here.
