Here's Exactly Why Joe Maddon Deserves Another Chance To Manage

Maybe the most important time of the baseball year right now as I write this blog. Game 1's in the book for the division series. We got drama across the board and close baseball everywhere. Including Los Angeles where it started as an initial blood bath until the Padres bullpen united once again.

Needless to say there's tons of shit going on and we have a whole show previewing it. That's the topical side of the show and it even includes the Yankees boys Hubbs and Smokes. Compelling timing given Cole's performance last night.

On the other side, the Guardians played their first bad game in months. I know this because I'm a Guard Dog and I know that Guard Dogs bounce back

But the real meat of the episode starts at 1:20 when Joe Maddon joins the show from his home in Pennsylvania. Just a few months removed from being removed from the Angels with a lot to say about his experiences. And that goes back to his days with the Rays and then the Cubs and all the things that made him a unique manager.

But there's stuff that comes up along the way that made him 2nd guess himself in Chicago. Stuff that maybe influenced his approach and identity in LA? He explains his side of the story and I can honestly say it's the first time I've come across this perspective. I didn't know the Cubs days had that kinda impact.

It's a juicy story. Hall of Fame (probably) manager looking to get back in the game.

I said White Sox would be a good fit and got laughed at by their fanbase. So I'll skip on match making right now but there's definitely room for an old school guy that has a philosophy on using analytics. I'm biased for obvious reasons but he definitely shouldn't be done for his career. There's a group that would thrive under his leadership and I know the game's better with him in it, making him one of the rare managers you can say that about.

Definitely worth a listen. Full interview here. Should start right with Joe:
