Kirk Minihane vs. Alex Bennett Round 2, Who Ya Got? (The Dozen: Week 2 Preview)
The Dozen Season 3 is well underway! It all starts tonight at 7|6c with 2-Team Minihane vs. 7-FLUX.
After a successful opening tournament in Philadelphia, which saw The Yak take the title, we move on to Week 2 with three in-person matches. Our correspondent Scoops L'Aguirre has the breakdown…

2-TEAM MINIHANE vs. 7-FLUX
2-Team Minihane (Season 2 Stats)
- 7-5-0 Record
- 10.25 Points Per Match
- 2.25 Steals Per Match
- 62% Niche Success Rate
-- Kirk (6.70 PPM)
-- Rico (3.44 PPM)
-- Big Ev (4.57 PPM)
7-FLUX
- Expansion Team
-- Chris (6.88 PPM)
-- Klemmer (Rookie)
-- Alex Bennett (Rookie)
So why does Kirk hate Klemmer?
I don’t fully understand it, but the skinny of the situation is that Klemmer was a Friday regular on the Kirk Minihane show with aspirations of working for Barstool. Kirk got Klemmer on Barstool Idol as a favor. Klemmer then “distanced” himself from Kirk; this is where the divide began as Kirk felt used. Kirk being one to always act rationally, then proceeded to go scorched earth on Klemmer (and Alex Bennett), throwing many profanities and jabs in their direction on socials and on his show. While Klemmer & Alex have sometimes bitten back, Kirk’s kept his foot firmly on the pedal at 100 MPH. To escalate things further, Kirk got Rico Bosco all-in on the Klemmer hate train. https://twitter.com/kirkminshow/status/1575858682273091585
Meanwhile, Chris Castellani is busy working on lip-synching videos, and Big Ev is wondering where his desk is as they prepare to play some good old trivia. With all the tension between these teams, there is no better way to hash things out than with a trivia blood feud.
Who Should Be Favored Between These Two Teams?
Chris led the league in Points Per Match last season, and if Klemmer is a robot like he seems to be, Flux will be a dominant force in this league. Plus, we still have no clue how Alex Bennett will do; based on RnR and Barstool vs. America, she seems to thrive in competition.
At the same time, they are facing league MVP Kirk Minihane and the best iteration of his squad as Big Ev replaces Pat. Kirk is tired of losing games, and he built a team with two guys who have specialized skills to fill in for his weaknesses; if Big Ev can hit on College Football & the NFL and Rico can hit on College Basketball & the NBA, then Kirk knows he can do the rest.
The category to watch out for between these two teams is Movies, as Chris & Kirk both typically Double it and they hit.
Experience matters and Team Minihane must be the favorite for this reason alone: Team Minihane (-1).
9-GEN XYZ vs. 10-BIG SCREAMIN HONKERS
9-GEN XYZ (Season 2 Stats)
- 3-8-0 Record
- 10.00 Points Per Match
- 2.36 Steals Per Match
- 67% Niche Success Rate
-- Large (5.63 PPM)
-- Jake (4.63 PPM)
-- Vibbs (3.63 PPM)
Big Screamin’ Honkers (Season 2 Stats)
- 5-6-1 Record
- 11.08 Points Per Match
- 2.58 Steals Per Match
- 29% Niche Success Rate
-- Large (5.63 PPM)
-- Jake (4.63 PPM)
-- Vibbs (3.63 PPM)
Who Should Be Favored Between These Two Teams?
It is a Barstool Breakfast Battle as Large and Gen XYZ take on the Big Screamin’ Honkers, with Francis making his Dozen debut. While I fully expect Francis to be a good player in this league, there will be growing pains for the new-look Honkers without Coley.
Gen XYZ is the streakiest team in the league and the tournament last season was the perfect encapsulation as we saw them upset #2 Seed Team Minihane and then get blown out 12-2 by Uptown Balls in the quarterfinals. What team are we getting this season? Large is consistently one of the best players in the league, and when you have all these unknown variables between these two teams, I am putting money on the team with the best player: Gen XYZ (-2.5).

11-urMOM vs. 15-THE FAMILY
11-urMom (Season 2 Stats)
- 5-6-0 Record|
- 10.73 Points Per Match
- 2.18 Steals Per Match
- 69% Niche Success Rate
-- Rudy (6.00 PPM)
-- KFC (4.90 PPM)
-- Jack McCarthy (4.30 PPM)
15-The Family (Season 2 Stats)
- Expansion Teams
-- Reags (5.00 PPM)
-- Feits (4.00 PPM)
-- John Rich (Rookie)
Who Should Be Favored Between These Two Teams?
We get the third-ever KFC Radio face-off, except this time, Feits comes in with a brand-new team, The Family featuring Reags and John Rich. Before trading himself to Out of Office, Reags was an MVP candidate and led the league in scoring at one point last season; he is looking for redemption. John Rich is a newcomer with a weird brain who does not want to embarrass himself. After being on the chaotic clown car that was Team Nightmare, it will be interesting to see how Feits plays with people who will take the game a bit more seriously.
Meanwhile, urMom just wants to stomp on some teams after their early tourney exit last season. Don’t let the 5-6-0 record fool you; urMom quickly made an impact last season and then got thrust into primetime, where they had to face many of the league’s best teams in succession. UrMom always held their own partly because of Rudy, but do not sleep on KFC & Jack McCarthy because they each had games where they carried their team’s last season.
That being said, The Family is a team I am all in on. I think between Reags Sports knowledge, Feits ability to watch anything airing on Television, and John Rich’s weird brain, they are well-rounded, and importantly, they all want to prove themselves. The Family (-0.5)
