Shane Bieber And Jose Ramirez Single-Handedly Beat The Rays In An Electric Opener To The MLB Playoffs
BOOOM!!! For those of you that complained about the 12:00 start today, it is now 3:00 on a Friday afternoon and your Guardians are already up 1-0 in the series, with nothing on the docket until tomorrow. Enjoy your Friday night, Cleveland!!!!
And what an outstanding opener to playoff baseball that was. There's literally nothing better than a pitcher's duel between Aces in Game 1. Unfortunately for the Rays, one of the Aces was slightly better than the other today, and his name was Shane Bieber.
Near perfection. That's what you need out of your big gun in Game 1 of a three game series, and that's what we got. Made one mistake against Siri in the top of the 6th, but other than that, was virtually unhittable. Bieber held the Rays to one run, making one swing of the bat from Jose Ramirez in the bottom of the 6th enough runs for the Guards.
Jose Ramirez should never pay for anything in Cleveland ever again. Not only is he a great clubhouse guy, an amazing talent, and an amazing person….not only did he take a discount to STAY IN CLEVELAND…..he also came up HUGE today when we needed him most. Our MVP.
Shout out to the fans that brought the energy today (which Clase mentioned after his save). Shoutout to those of you at work that had to follow along on Gamecast. And shout out to Ohio's Tate's afternoon classes that cooked out and WILLED this team to victory.
Teacher of the Year???? Will circle back on this in May. Right now, we need to focus on the Rays.
Tomorrow we've got Tristan McKenzie and they've got Glasnow. I will say this: put them away, boys. We can send the Rays back to Florida by the end of brunch tomorrow, and we better, because I want NOTHING to do with a Browns 1:00 pm / Guardians 4:00 pm doubleheader on Sunday. First place Browns and Guardians elimination game? Sounds like Cleveland may find a way to Cleveland if given the opportunity….
PS - Every single person in America better watch the Mets vs. Padres tonight. That baseball game was as good as it gets and they stuck it on at 12:00 because, as you commenters reminded me the other day, it was a "JV game compared to the Mets". I want to see record shattering viewers tonight.
