The Cardinals Removing Yadier Molina, Adam Wainwright, And Albert Pujols In What Could Be Their Last Regular Season Game At The Same Time Was An All-Time Cool Moment

What a cool moment and fantastic managerial move by Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol yesterday. A true end of an era.

Top of the 5th and Marmol came out to remove Adam Wainwright from the game. Could be his last career start in the regular season, we don't really know if he's retiring or not. What we do know is Yadier Molina and Albert Pujols are calling it quits after this season. So instead of just pulling Waino, Marmol pulled all three Cardinals legends together. That isn't an exaggeration either. These guys are legends.

It was awesome to see these three head off into the dugout for the final time in the regular season and Marmol stand back on the mound to let the guys soak in the applause. Those guys have played a combined 4,489 games in a Cardinals uni and all have a chance of going into Cooperstown. Albert will for sure be a first ballot Hall of Famer, Wainwright has a good chance, and the media loves Yadi. The Cardinal Way sure knows how to crank them out.

I also would have loved it if Marmol was mic'd up so we could hear what he said to them.

The fact that this was a surprise to all three is really cool too. Just a well rounded effort by the Cardinals staff to keep this as a surprise for these guys. Love them or hate them, you can't deny that these guys are the St. Louis Cardinals. Naturally Pujols hit 702 in his first at-bat in his last regular season game in Busch Stadium, he also went yard in his first at-bat at Busch Stadium. Wouldn't expect anything less from The Machine. A really cool baseball moment for these three legends.
