LeBron Being LeBron: Admits He'd Ruin A Team's Future To Play With His Sons, While Also Saying He Never Discusses It With Them

[Source] - James, who signed an extension with the Lakers this offseason, has his sights set on playing with his sons eventually in his NBA career, even if they don’t talk about it too often.

“We don’t even really talk about the future too much,” James said. “I put it in the air because I like to talk to the basketball gods out there and see if things can come to fruition. I’ve always set out goals in my career, talked to the basketball gods, and they’ve listened to all of them. Hopefully they can listen to this last one, too.”

“I’d definitely be looking at who got first-round picks in 2024, 2025, things of that nature; 2026, ’27,” LeBron James said. “I pay attention to that type of stuff.”

I gotta hand it to LeBron. It's impressive really. The ability to say he never discusses talking about playing with his sons only to then openly admit he's going to ruin a team in the future. Only LeBron could contradict himself so fast, so perfectly in an interview here. I'm not ruling out that one of the James kids can make the NBA. Bronny is a top-40 recruit. It's not *insane* to think he can eventually get a contract. But let's chill on the fact that any guy is going to get a deal - even if it brings LeBron to your team. That's actually more in terms of drafting him. You can sign him to a 2-way deal.

Hey, I get it from a dad's side. I can be fair. Every dad dreams that their son is good enough to be a pro athlete. I hope one of my two sons are talented enough to be bloggers. Not every day you get to live out your dream of writing whatever you want, posting smokes and collecting a paycheck. Hope the other one though is good enough to play in the NBA.

But here's the facts. LeBron talking about looking at the draft picks? That's a good way to ruin your future. You know why? LeBron doesn't do rebuilds. LeBron doesn't do things unless it's his way. It's why there are coaching changes. It's why the Lakers ended up with Russ last season instead of Buddy Hield. You really want a 42-year old LeBron coming to your team? I don't think so.
