Rob Gronkowski Might Just Be The Exact Reserve Big The Celtics Need

Yup, I've seen enough. After the Celts extended a camp invite to Denzel Valentine the other day it left them with 2 more open spots for camp invites before they reach the maximum 20. Seeing as how Gronk isn't going to be doing shit in September in terms of football, I say it's time to get on the phone and give him one of those camp invites. You saw the tape. You're telling me that guy can't compete in camp for a reserve spot? Everyone who has followed the Celts this summer know what their big man situation looks like. If you somehow forgot, this is what they're working with right now

Robert Williams

Al Horford

Grant Williams

Luke Kornet

Mfiondu Kabengele

Noah Vonleh

You can't tell me that version of Gronk we just watched can't compete with some of those end of bench guys. What do we know Brad/Ime love when it comes to this roster? Versatility. Can you play/guard multiple positions? After watching Gronk do just that, I'm ready to say he can. Is he a PF? A Point Forward? Both? I want to find out.

I'm also not ruling out the vibes aspect. Nobody can deny that losing Malik Fitts and his bench celebrations was one of the downsides to the Malcolm Brogdon trade (basically the only downside)

I feel like this is a role Rob would thrive in. Try having a bad time or not being happy when you're next to Gronk. It's impossible. he would be the ultimate hype guy at the end of the bench and you cannot convince me otherwise.

Up to this point, Brad Stevens has basically pitched a perfect game as GM of the Boston Celtics. It's actually kind of freaky considering he had zero experience running an NBA franchise. Given what his big man depth looks like and the fact that he has a couple of camp invites open, this feels like a no brainer. Bring a New England legend back to the Garden and let's get Gronk on a Celts championship parade float.
