A Quick Look At The Best And Worst Parts Of The Celtics 2022-23 Schedule

For those who haven't seen it, here's the full 2022-23 schedule
Now that we're all up to speed, let's run through some things I like and don't like
- 13 back to backs may seem like a lot, but it's actually fewer than we saw last year (15) and the year before in 2020-21 (15) so I don't really mind it. The only thing that really matter with B2Bs is the fact that Al won't be playing in them at all or at the most only a few, which is why their depth is going to be pretty important. I don't mind that one one of the B2Bs are against a team that finished top 3 in the East last year, so at least there's that.
- Having said that, one of the B2Bs being LAC/LAL is lame. My guess is players are rested for the Lakers game which would stink. Especially with the Lakers game being the final game of a 5 game road trip (4 on the West Coast). Seeing as how it's on a Tuesday my guess is that would be a TNT game or something so potentially having that be a load management game sucks.
- That whole November 30th through December 14th stretch is pretty tough on paper. Usually when you go out West there are one or two layup games during that 4 game stretch, but not this time. You might remember how brutal last season's December was when everyone was hurt and they went out West (6-9 that month) and this year's December looks to be just as challenging. A good in season test if you ask me.
- At least my birthday on 3/25 can't be ruined by a potential loss so that's great for me
- For the second year in a row we'll see the Celts face off against the Pistons in the final game before the break. A casual fan might say that should be an easy win. A mentally deranged fan like myself remembers the 112-111 loss at home to snap a 9 game winning streak heading into the break. I think the Pistons will be even better this season, so I'm really hoping the Celts don't sleepwalk that game again.
- I actually like how the season ends, at least on paper. Starting on March 30th, the Celts have 5 games against teams they could be in a seeding battle with, and 4 of the final 5 are at home. Everything from H2H record to division standings will matter when it comes to tiebreakers, so this tells me that if things are close at that point of the year everyone should still be trying. Then again, we saw teams be cowards last year and lose on purpose late so that they could avoid the Nets, so we don't know for sure. But anything that potentially gives us late season basketball where everyone is playing and trying hard is a good thing in my opinion.
If you were to ask me what I think their record will be, I dunno, 50 something wins? I want to see how they look before I put an official number on it so ask me after the preseason. Overall I'm just excited we finally have a schedule because it means we are that much closer to the official start of the season. This has been without a doubt the longest summer of all time and this upcoming Celts season is easily one of the biggest and most important seasons in all of our lives. It's title or bust. We haven't really said that since the Big 3 era, and I'll be honest it feels great to be back.
