Chris Pratt and Jason Alexander Are Teaming Up For A Russo Brothers Movie

Even with their most recent film The Gray Man climbing the all-time viewership ranks on Netflix, Joe and Anthony Russo are moving fast on their next event film at the streamer and putting together quite the ensemble. Sources tell Deadline that Michelle Yeoh, Stanley Tucci, Jason Alexander, Brian Cox and Jenny Slate are set to join the Russo Brothers’ The Electric State starring Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt. The Russos will direct with Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely adapted the script. The Russos and Mike Larocca producing for AGBO. Chris Castaldi and Patrick Newall are also producing.

The film is based on adaptation of the illustrated novel by Simon Stålenhag and is set in a retro-futuristic past, where an orphaned teenager (Brown) traverses the American West with a sweet but mysterious robot and an eccentric drifter in search of her younger brother. Angela Russo-Otstot, Jake Aust, Geoff Haley, Markus and McFeely are exec producing.

Who is one of the first directors you associate with mega-star Chris Pratt? The Russo Brothers. And who is one of the first actors you associate with Pratt? Obviously the star of the McDLT commercial, Jason Alexander.

Joke headline aside, I kinda like this bizarre, island of misfit toys cast. You got a great star in Pratt, a martial arts legend in Yeoh, an AWESOME role player in Tucci Mayne, maybe the best old guy actor in Brian Cox and a great rising star in Jenny Slate. I know nothing about the actual novel, but I'm down for this based on the description. It sounds almost like a little story set in the world of the Fallout video game universe.

I wasn't over the moon on the last Russo brothers Netflix joint in 'The Grey Man', but it was undeniably entertaining. Can they nail something a little more intimate here? Time will tell.
