Clayton Kershaw Was Awesome In The All-Star Game But The Best Thing He Did Last Night Was Grant This Young Fan's Wish In His Press Conference

Out of all the content to come out of the All-Star Game last night this was by far the best. Clayton Kershaw always seems like such an awesome and nice guy and stuff like this just cements it. He thought his press conference was over after his start but there was one more person who needed to talk to him. 10-year-old Blake Grice is a young fan who was in the press conference and had his hand raised for a while. Kershaw almost walked out before being told there was one more question. Grice walked up and handled himself like a pro, telling Kershaw that one of his grandfather's bucket list items was to meet the future hall of famer. (Little backstory, Grice's grandfather made a bucket list with each of his grandkids and an item on Blake's list was to meet Clayton.) He then proceeds to tells Kershaw that his grandfather died a few years ago from brain cancer and that is why it was so special for him to meet Kershaw. He starts crying and getting very emotional and Kershaw hops right up and comforts the kid. Gives him a hug, a literal shoulder to cry on. They go over and take a picture for the kids parent and it no-doubt will be the highlight of this kids life. If you don't watch that and cry with Grice as he explains to Kershaw what it means to meet him, I don't want to know you. I'm sure every reporter in the room was tearing up as well, I mean how could you not. A very emotional moment for all the parties involved and I think it was great that Blake was able to cross something off the list he and his grandfather had.

It was a banner night for Kershaw, starting the All-Star Game in his ballpark but this was cooler than anything he's ever done on the field. He easily could have just kept walking when he thought the presser was done, pretended like he didn't hear them say there was one more and call it a night. The fact that he sat and listened to Blake and then comfort him and talk with him about his grandfather in a room full of press was awesome. I love everything about it. Nothing but props for Clayton on this, stuff like this is why he's one of the best guys in the game.
