Ref Retaliates At Youth Basketball Game With A Knockout Punch

I have said it forever, and this tweet nails it. Youth sports, especially youth basketball is in a BADDDDDDD spot right now. Everyone thinks their son or daughter is ranked nationally , publications are not helping (A quick google of the class of 2030 (currently 5th graders (Link) ) by ranking kids at 10 years old, COVID put people locked in there houses for two years which created crazy tweets from parents as well as Facebook statuses, it also lowered the quality of play with kids not have spring ball in most of the country in 2020 which leads to sloppier play, more fouls etc. Fouls cause fights etc.

Everyone thinks no matter what the situation, and no matter how little people actually know the rules, the refs get blamed. And when the refs get blamed they get attacked, until the refs finally fight back as in the video above.

There's no full way to know the situation beforehand but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to tell you it's ugly. A ref should never resort to physical action , but I guess everyone has a breaking point. Also a guy looking to stay involved in the game and pick up an extra 30-40 bucks by reffing AAU should never be assaulted either so parents and coaches need to take a hard look in the mirror.
