Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone Announces His Retirement

Jim Miller just defeated Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone with a guillotine during the UFC 276 prelims - exacting his revenge after dropping a UFC Fight Night main event to him in 2014 and becoming the UFC's all time wins leader - and Cowboy left his gloves in the cage and announced his retirement immediately afterwards....

Jim Miller made the classy decision to let Cowboy have his moment, and Cerrone told Joe Rogan that he simply doesn't love mixed martial arts anymore, and wants to go off and become a movie star. He just starred in a movie alongside Gina Carano and has one with Chael Sonnen on the way, along with seemingly 100 others....

While this retirement shouldn't come as a big surprise considering Cowboy's record as of late…

…it doesn't make it sting any less! I mean, Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone is a true legend of this sport. Few epitomized the "any time, any place" mantra we hear out of fighters all the time more than Cowboy. Few had a walkout or nickname as iconic. Few transitioned through different eras of contenders as well. Few broke through and became a mainstream name as quickly.

Donald Cerrone is a sure-fire UFC Hall of Famer, and as a fan, I can't think him enough for all of the violent entertainment he's provided us with over the years.
