Clayton Kershaw Calls Out Freddie Freeman After Atlanta Return: 'I Hope We're Not Second Fiddle'

Freddie Freeman is apparently still a Braves sleeper cell, sowing discord in the Dodgers' locker room.

I'm surprised someone like Clayton Kershaw would come out and say something so pointed at Freddie, but I understand why he did it. I think it's pretty clear to everyone after Friday night that Freeman doesn't really want to be playing for the Dodgers. He fought back minutes of tears when he received his World Series ring and talked to the Truist Park crowd like he was going to rip off his Dodgers uniform and trot back over to the first base dugout.

Obviously everyone can understand his emotion there, but I can also see why his current teammates would look around and ask if this guy even wants to be on their team.

It's a very weird situation all-around. It seems like both Freddie and Alex Anthopoulos wish they had a do-over and could have figured something out, but it is what it is at this point. It was an odd scene to watch on Friday, though, to be sure. I don't know if this is something Freddie will have to address in the clubhouse now after those comments, but a guy of Kershaw's stature doesn't say something like that to a reporter accidentally.

Hopefully we get this matchup in October for a third straight year, because the storylines between the last two World Series champs could not be any better.
