The Lineup For The Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concerts Are Nothing Short Of Legendary

Last week, for the first time since his death in late March, we heard from Taylor Hawkins' family - specifically his wife, Alison - in this statement released on social media:

To me, it reads as a beautiful thank you to his fans, a rebuke of the shitty Rolling Stone hitpiece, and her blessing for the Foo Fighters to go on....and speaking of the Foo Fighters, they announced a pair of Taylor Hawkins tribute shows as well:

The first show will be held on September 3rd at Wembley Stadium, where the Foo Fighters played their most famous shows ever in 2008, and where only one other tribute concert has been held - the tribute to Freddie Mercury, that is….

….and the second show goes down on the 27th of September in Los Angeles - a "hometown" show.

The lineup for the Wembley Stadium show was announced today, and it doesn't disappoint, as it's full of Taylor's musical idols, his inspirations, and his friends….

  • Chris Chaney
  • Stewart Copeland
  • Liam Gallagher
  • Omar Hakim
  • Joshua Homme
  • Chrissie Hynde
  • Geddy Lee
  • Alex Lifeson
  • Brian May
  • Mark Ronson
  • Supergrass
  • Roger Taylor
  • Rufus Taylor
  • Wolfgang Van Halen
  • Chevy Metal (Taylor's hard rock cover band)

Oh, and Dave Chappelle! Not sure if he's there to do some sort of hosting duties or if he's gonna sing Creep again but I'm here for it.

Taylor truly loved Queen, Rush, and Stewart Copeland's drumming more than anyone who ever lived, so I love that they're all coming together for this. I can only imagine the amount of his friends they'll be able to get to come around in Los Angeles.

Liam Gallagher, who Hawkins adored so much he said he'd be in the crowd at Knebworth when asked about him earlier in the year, said it's an absolute honor to be invited to do this earlier today….

….and the show will benefit charities in the UK as chosen by the Hawkins Family.

As someone on the east coast, I sure hope they livestream these concerts, because I know everyone is going to come together to put on a legendary couple nights for Taylor. I'm sure it'll be one of the more emotional nights in recent rock n' roll history as well.

UPDATE: The Los Angeles lineup was just announced as well, as it's another grand slam….
